The TV has always been in the Det Sqd.

Well over 15 years ago when I got to the Sqd the tv was always on.

Is it acceptable to have watched NYPD Blue ? A SuperBowl ? CNBC ?

Heck, there used to be a Capt in the Boro at PBBS who's office there looked like the floor of the Stk Market.

When I was in the Sqd and NYPD Blue was on, I quickly learned what happened if you chose not to watch it........ you answered every phone call and dealt with
    every issue for that hour.

I soon became an avid watcher of it.

And all kidding aside, as for the bomber caper. I'll rag on this JOB as much as the next one. Maybe even more than some.

But for those who've never investigated a case where the perps aren't listed on the 61 as in a DV caper... It just isn't easy. It's a true
measure of skills to find an unknown perp.

And many times it comes down to some unknown person giving the info up for their own personal reason, at the time of their choosing.

You guys are a little unfair on this one.

TB you guys could catch him if you wanted to ( I think), the point is he's probably from NYU or Columbia( Anarchist Incubators) and the PD could never do
      ani nvestigation their...Never.

Also a more active patrol force, anti crime, scu or routine patrol may have made the joker think twice. It is Midtown after all not like it was out in the BX
or BKLYN, right in TIMES SQUARE>

Their is a nationwide pattern to this also over the last few years. not the first time a bomb has blown up a recruting center.

what if babys momma was walking by at 3 am and got blown up? an outrage.

At one point, the TVs were thrown out of the squad rooms..banned...!

Civilian complainants complained that detectives were more interested in what was on TV, then their case...

Whether it was the perception or the reality, anyone walking in (that includes us patrol skum), got the impression that they were interrupting something..and
        it wasn't police work!

Witnesses staying at a Marriott hotel four blocks away said they could feel the building shake with the blast.

"I was up on the 44th floor and I could feel it. It was a big bang," said Darla Peck, 25, of Portland, Oregon.

"It shook the building. I thought it could have been thunder, but I looked down and there was a massive plume of smoke so I knew it was an
explosion," said Terry Leighton, 48, of London, who was staying on the 21st floor of the Marriot.

Only way they will solve these in the future, is require bicycle to have registered vins, titles, registrations with plates and lights...charge
a fee (tax) to cover police administrative costs...

The light requirement is needed for the routine equipment violation stops and RWB (like DWB). The summons generated by the uniform patrol skum, provide the
investigative-never-have-to-leave-your-desk tracking crumbs needed by the TV detectives....

yes, the tv's have always been on, i have no problem with that. what I have a problem with is persons in the squad watching embarrassing crap like American
idol, writing notes, cheering, clapping like school girls, in front of complainants! When other detectives tell them to keep it down, they get looked at like
they are crazy...this is American Idol, what do you mean keep it down?

Too late for a press conference today at 1800.. maybe, if they double the effort, they will catch him tomorrow..

                    Mar 26, 2008#39

Ate dinner early tonight in anticipation of an 1800 news conference..

Wanted to be in my recliner when they did the Verizon support staff style perp walk..i.e all those detectives and chiefs battling for a place to hold an arm or
piece of clothing of the perp, this as he or she is walked in ultra slo-mo to a department vehicle, a vehicle strategically staged 16 blocks away......

                      Any updates.....?

Can't believe a free press would let this slide..(like it never happened)..

The bomber, through this one simplified act, terrorizes the entire east coast, upstages Kelly's staged illusionary war on terror and leaves one
wondering....is Kelly up to the job.....
