Anybody remember the 1994-95 season? The Kamloops Blazers finished the regular season at the top of the Western Conference and Prince George Cougars were at the bottom... Circumstances are definitely different this time around. Also, it's early in the season. A lot can change. The Cougars have been hit by suspensions and injuries. The recent penalties to Marincin and Burke means they've had five players suspended already! (including two-game penalty to Caleb Belter in pre-season) Also, not having Connolly back obviously leaves a big hole on offence.
Are the Blazers really that good this year? We'll see how they look at CN Centre in next weekend's doubleheader.

wrapped in a riddle, covered by an enigma. The Bloozers...you just never know which team might show up. They are exceptionally hot now and seem to be able to score a lot of goals. Not a good match for us right now as we are struggling to put the biscuit in the basket. At least for the first time since opening night we will have ALMOST a whole team again with just Marincin missing. While he is a big, important piece for success to happen with this team defense, surprisingly, is really turning into the strongest part of our team. It has been a long time since defense lead this team anywhere but it sure is nice to see. Man that J Forsberg is a BEAST out there. Really setting a physical example all over the ice to his team mates...again, just wonderful to watch. He is going to knock so many people into next week this year...it is going to be awesome! He has Hamhuis kind of timing on his hits...you can see it coming, and this train don't stop. ANOTHER fun game to watch tonight..good stuff! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGS!

Before the season started, when it looked like Conno could return, it appeared like offence would be a strength and defence a weakness. Obviously the key there is Drew Owsley too. I'm not saying the Cougars defence was bad last night, it was pretty decent. But Owsley was terrific in net! I hope he turns the corner here and can put in starts like that regularly as it'll put the Cougars in a much more favourable position.
Jesse Forsberg is fun to watch, plays very physical which is great. I think their D deserves some credit.... The games this weekend will be fun. Based on how close recent Cougars games have been, we can expect close results this weekend. Can't take the standings too seriously yet.
