I am looking to get a pilot watch (B-Uhr etc.)

I have been looking mostly to the Steinhart/DeBaufre Nav B as it seems to be a favorite amongst collectors and it is affordable... Just wondered if there is anything I am missing out on. Brands I should be looking at, etc.

I need it to be auto/hand wind. LARGER than 42mm, and either German, Russian, or Swiss, for under 600-700 bucks.

THANKS A LOT!!

If you want larger than 42mm I would go with a Steinhart (Steinhartwatches.de) in Germany. Their pilot watch is thicker now so the crown does not stick into your wrist, the quality is 1st rate, they have many styles of B-Uhr including a great limited edition B-Uhr with no name on the dial just like the original B-Uhr, you can even get rose gold or yellow gold, and they ship by Fed Ex so you do't have to wait too long. I have 3 of their Pilot watches (the one without the name on the dial, their standard B-Uhr and a Yellow Gold version). Ask for Gunter Steinhart.

Archimede puts out a solid affordable pilots watch. It is 42mm and has the diamond crown.

Steinhart is releasing a few different pilot watches.

1. A Ltd Gold Edition. Here are some pics from Watchuseek taken by Triton.

2. 43.5mm Nav B-Uhr. This one will be both Automatic and Manual Winding.

Im pretty sure they are both made by the same company, so basically besides slight design variations, are the same pieces. I prefer the Debaufre, as I HATE the Steinhart logo, but that Gold LE is amazing. The gold hands are really nice and gives the watch a great vintage look. I will probably get one of them or one of the Debaufre counterparts. Seem to be the best deal out there. Thanks guys!

I tried finding the answer but am still searching. I know the Ocean-1 is similar to the Grovana diver and the Debaufre Aircraft-8 is the same as one put out by Revue Thommen which is owned by Grovana. Grovana does private label watches and most likely the Ocean-1 and the Aircraft-8 are made by them. The rest are probably made by another private label watchmaker. Several factories could be involved. Steinhart does offer really good customer service from what I read and the same goes for Debaufre.

I really like the Gold LE too. I don't think you could go wrong with either watch.

Todd is right, the Ocean 1 series is made by Grovana and the Aircraft 8 by Revue Thommen.

The other watches like the Triton, LeMans GT and Nav.B are not private label! Their parts are individually designed, produced by several different swiss and german companies to then be assembled at the facility that also modifies the Unitas movements.

These are facts and not speculation!
