This is somewhat a long story so bear with me, please. Our PC has been showing its age and then some. However after checking into things literally, it seemed that our best option was to purchase a custom made hard drive from the very knowledgeable and nice tech that takes care of things where my wife is employed. After doing that we thought that we would be good to go for a long time if not years. On this new hard drive was loaded our favorite Windows 7. It was fast and could do everything that we wanted a PC to do.
Unfortunately Microsoft forced Windows 10 in one night even though we did not ask for it. We found it to be very slow and it could not do many of the things that we used to do. When we tried to reverse it (get rid of it), Windows 10 crashed our entire system. Until we could borrow a hard drive a week or more later, we went without a PC. That was not so bad at all except that we lost touch with all of the folks outside of our local phone code.
The used hard drive that had been swept clean which we used during the repair of ours had Windows 7. Microsoft continually tried to force 10 on that hard drive so we had to shut the entire system down every time that we took a break or quit for any length of time. Our own hard drive is back but it will not be hooked up until the weekend. The tech said that we could keep the used one as a back up should anything happen to the new one. He also states that there is a block against Windows 10 on the new one.
Beware if you are considering going to Windows 10 that it still has bugs to work out in the program. There may be things on it that you like but you might also lose many that you had and liked. For De and Me, Windows 10 is a real big loser .
It just appeared one night for me as well. I am trying to get used to it but I'm not impressed either.
