The Scottish Festival today where my Son competes.
He travels all over for these games and at 6'2" and 260 pounds he does very well altho compared to a lot of the other participants he is small!

That object he is tossing weighs 56 pounds and he heaved it over a 14' pole! The worlds record is 22' 6"

To keep it "Watch" oriented I was wearing this..........

I always got a kick out of going to Scottish festivals and watching the 'giants' toss those telephone pole sized 'cabers' end over end. I once tried to lift the end of one up and just about blew myself a hernia! And these guys actually lift them up; hold them erect then flip them

Tossing that Caber aint as easy as it looks as from my pic of my Son you can see just how tall those things are........ it's not about tossing it but you not only have to toss it but it has to turn around completely or it doesnt count! In other words it has to flip over end to end!

And that is what I though when I saw the Coronado Hotel like building. I was on that stretch of beach back in 1987 when there was a small riot. Something to do with a bunch of drunk young men hassling some bikini clad young ladies near a lifeguard stand that escalated to the point of having the Long Beach, Huntington Beach and one other PD responding with riot gear.

Fortunately, I was in a nearby restaurant and not involved...although it did take an extra three hours to exit the scene
