a complete waste in a digital watch that can run for 10 years on a conventional battery with never a worry about keeping a rechargeable battery above it's drop out voltage.

The pricing indicates it's for people with more money than brains

It is not automatic, it's just a kinetic style auto-relay movement. IIRC they discontinued their last model and I thought they'd gone out of business. I guess the didn't. This is their old watch:

I've always wanted and missed out on their first sparc fx.
Now they are 3-4times the price.

I have a Timex OVA that has a very similar case design and which also rides on the side of your wrist (with part of the case wrapping itself over the top). The design makes for very easy viewing, especially when performing sports. It does take some getting used to though, as the dial and the movement stick out a bit on the side of your wrist (instead of the top). I found they don't wear well with dress shirts.

I don't wear much dress shirts these days but I think it looks a bit akward
