I do stress hobby...

I came home late Saturday to a bunch of e-mails, phone messages, AND an e-mail from Network 54 about this forum.

It seems that someone has seen fit to complain about several threads here on the AWF. I am not interested in taking sides or officiating this debate. The "offensive" posts where no less or more offensive than posts made by this party about other WIS both on this forum and on "Rick's" previous forums; let alone posts which you did not see because they did not make it to the main forum.

I do not have the time or energy right now to be a go-between with this person and other AWF members. I also do not want to wade in anymore on theistic debates or the fallout on the threads on the Cafe. Some have left the forum due to this. I find this all very sad as I see people who have been great acquantances over several years via forum, e-mail, and phone calls walk away from each other.

This is a watch forum and it should be a fun diversion for us. Very few of us make our main living from horology and thus this should be a fun part of your hobby if you choose to visit here (which I hope you will all still do).

I lurk here most days and try to make regular posts. Although you do not see me posting everday I do pop in. Let's get back to this being primarily a watch forum with both informative and fun posts. O.T. posts are always welcome (especially the fun ones).

Thanks for listening and back to the watches.

But this is AWF and topics usually are all over the place, which does make it all interesting IMO.
I'm almost never over on the cafe. I don't drink coffee. haha.

What are the golden rules?

No posting religion, sex & violence, and politics.
Those almost always go bad. IMO.

Its common sense I hope most do consider so moderation can be left out and Zoo-man can concentrate keeping on the road and Lucy can ride shotgun.

Keep it civil, do not attack others... No religion, politics, or nudity on the main forum.

After what happened I would prefer no politics and religion on the Cafe either.

I want this to be a fun place like it has been -for the most part- for the past 2+ years...

Otherwise anarchy and bedlam will rule.

With the Internet, there can be no 'Open Forum'; we have ample proof of that. Accept that there must be some rules and that they must be monitored/administered.

Until this is put in place the crap will continue to happen

We can try getting back to watches but until the basic tenant of the AWF is about watches; with safe guards put in place; it will continue to be plagued with troll traffic and controversial posts.
