let me tell you, this is the best spy writing i have come across since le carre. different style of writing from le carre, but completely gripping from the start.

author is a thirty year CIA veteran, so tradecraft (as in le carre, moscow rules etc..) plays a big part. really good read.

finished the first one, two more to go.
What fun. Great story, with wonderful detail.

I'll disagree with you a bit. This was more Clancy than le Carre. The attention to detail, spycraft, webs within webs is wonderful.

Looking for a good spy thriller? Seek this out.

(I heard the movie sucks, by the way)

Bach, how are the other books?

I find Clancy just too.....wordy on the techno stuff and not much substance. The Only Clancy I liked was red October

The second and third books carry on in the same style. I'm in the middle of the third.

the info on the two GRU operatives filmed in England responsible for the poisonings in Salisbury makes the books even more realistic.

Thanks for the update. I'm debating whether to go back to Foundation or continue with the Red Sparrow series.

Tell me more about the movie.

The movie was disconnected, differed from the book and only maintained a rough similarity to the book, with considerable plot changes.

If I hadn’t read the book I’m not sure I would have understood the movie.

The second book involved Russia’s Iran connection. The third one so far has a high ranking American mole.

Read "Foundation" a few months ago, and thought I'd go through the series in chronological (not order of writing) order.

Enjoyed "Prelude to Foundation," and started this a few days ago:
