Anyone watching? Any predictions?

The Spain against RonaldoPortugal match was exciting.

Today both Germany and Brazil will play, then we’ll know more.

My dark horse for the winner: Belgium.

Saw Iceland tie Argentina.

I like it when the underdog does well.

I’m paying attention. I’m hoping Brazil does well. We’ll be in Rio for 16th through quarter finals and it would be great if they’re still in it at that point. Seeing how animated that whole country gets for games is something I’d like the boy to see.

Talking about South America, isn't it a pity that Paraguay isn't participating in the world cup this time?

I guess it means we won't see that girl with the nice ... cell phone again.

Puts a totally different perspective on "butt dialing," doesn't it?

Well, Mexico deserved to win. Maybe that'll serve as a wake-up call for the German team.

Front page of the post sports today.

Shocking!

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Brazil scored two after 90th minute against Costa Rica.

Which brings me to one of the things that European football always bothered my American sensibilities. All American sports work on a clock countdown( with the notable exception of baseball which is not a timed game). And the game finishes at time zero. In basketball it's even measured in tenths of seconds. And similarly American football, hockey etc.

In soccer, u count up, and what's even worse, u never really know when the game finishes. The referee adds time more or less arbitrarily and can blow the whistle for ending the game at his discretion. Which is really weird and i still think it's strange to watch. Very unamerican.
