No, they weren't. They were far right.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

I've always had a problem with nazis being referred to as "far right" when they pushed a far left political system.

You know what, no. This is another situation in which it's impossible to have an actual conversation about this because the right is your side and you seem determined to defend it unequivocally and to the death, regardless of facts or circumstances. You know what, I don't care. The Nazis were far right. That's obvious to anyone who knows what that sentence even means. What should be equally obvious is that acknowledging that fact has absolutely no bearing on American politics, right-leaning politics generally, those who affiliate with right-leaning ideologies, etc.

I don't see the point of defending your side at the point of turning everything into propaganda. Read some history books. The Nazis were far right and no one's going to hold it against you or your side after admitting this.

The party spectrum should more accurately be seen as a ring. The extreme ends meet again.

Yeah it’s kind of stupid.   They were recognized as right wing at the time, and every sympathizing or friendly movement in other western countries were also recognized as right wing.

And to this day the neo-Nazis consider themselves right wing.

It’s really only a certain class of right wing apologist that even tries to make this argument.

FWIW, I can show you plenty of leftists that say soviet communism was right wing. It’s a similar confusion, motivations are the same.

They were thugs.

Not that different from modern day thugs.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

So, when Hitler said the problem with the Weimar Republic was that they hadn't read Marx, he had no communistic or socialistic modus operandi in mind when formulating how the Nazis would come to power or how they might govern?

I’m not familiar with the quote or its context.   But it’s not important, it certainly can’t be the case that whether Nazism was right wing or left wing comes down to a comment Hiler made about the Weimar Republic.
