The following list of rules is an updated and clarified version of the original set. As of March 11, 2009, this is the active set of rules the moderating team will follow if a decision needs to be made. This list was drafted after listening to the opinions of the forum over the last few weeks, and the entire moderating team and Jgoo have signed off in support of this list.
Part I -- Spam and Porn -- The moderating team will take independent and timely action to remove any posts, threads, or members soliciting spam or porn. This is non-negotiable and is imperative to the health of the forum.
Part II -- Screen Names -- New members or sock puppets signing up under a previously-existing screen name found in related forums (e.g., PW, FS, WTF) is not allowed, as we respect the right of the original owner to use their screen name. This also includes reasonably similar screen names.
Part III -- Suspension and Banning -- Only in extreme cases will a member be suspended or banned. Such action will only result after the offending member has been warned via PM and only if the moderating team is in full (100%) agreement about such action. While TNCR prides itself on being a sanctuary of free-speech, where very benign and very offensive posts are allowed, a minimal level of order is required to keep the place standing. Examples include, but are not limited to, clearly malicious members such as trolls, trollpuppets, and other members that consistently and almost exclusively post malicious and trouble-making content, will not be allowed. A certain level of ambiguity has been built into this section to allow the moderating team some flexibility in handling unforeseen future situations. As mentioned in Part V, Jgoo (as site admin) can override any of these decisions, but initially it will be moderating team's call.
Part IV -- Personal Information -- The revelation of personal information (such as someone's contact, family, location, or other reasonably private information) without permission will not be allowed if the associated person objects to it.
Part V -- Jgoo -- This is Jgoo's forum, and unless he passes admin powers to another person, he has the final say about any and all matters. This includes, but is not limited to, the active list of rules, the moderating team, accepting or rejecting moderator decisions, whether a member is blocked, et cetera.
