Been a long time renovating my basement. Apart from staining the staircase I rebuilt, I am so close to finishing. It all started with ripping out the old insulation and redoing it all myself, getting the r-value up to code and better, and sealing it tight. New walls, ceilings, floors, lighting, and a fireplace came next. First pic shows the family room with the fireplace. The mantel is a beam from an old barn which I lightly sanded and hollowed out to hang it without all the weight. The second pic is my TV room. The best part of this room is the pine board wall. I finished it to give it a rustic but modern look and feel as opposed to barn board. I like barn board a lot but wanted something a little different. Still need to hang some more critters, put up a TV and display my bows. Hope you like it.

Thanks! Started last summer. Wasn’t in a big hurry but the plan was to be done this spring. Slow compared to most renos I guess. The wall behind the sofa is pine which I lightly sanded and stained.

Nice work Mike. Feels good to get a project like that under the belt. Something you and the family will enjoy for years.
