This DVD seems to be OOP everywhere. There is an IVL version from HK or a Deltamac version from Taiwan. Since both are identical I am interested in either one, as long as it's an original DVD.
an ex-rental PAL VHS tape would also be welcome.

thanks guys!
VCD would be an option if I only wanted to see the movie once, but I think this will be 'one for the collection' so I prefer the DVD version
And that tape is also not an option for me because it says NTSC in the description. This could be an error ofcourse, but for that price I don't want to take a chance (and the picture looks like a poster, not like a tape, something that always makes me look elsewhere instantly :))

You're difficult to please!

Well, I guess you'll just have to order the Celestial dvd from... Celestial!

Here it be:
http://shaw.intercontinental.com.hk/en/ ... ID=MS-4569

It doesn't say 'sold out' or anything so I assume they still got it.

Forget ordering it from the Celestial website, they have a lot of titles listed as being in stock eventho they're not. HFOTMW have been OOP for years, it is VERY hard to find now. It's absolutely essential for anyone into crazy, mind-bending 80s wuxia, you should also seek out the two Bastard Swordsman films as well Secret Service of the Imperial Court. They're all directed by the same director, Tony Liu Jun Guk.

I did order that Bastard Swordsman box already... and about 9 other titles

Mads gave me a link for a webstore that seems to maybe still have it, I am also hoping to get it through another forum I just joined. so all hope is not lost.

thanks everybody for help in my search! also thanks to cinehound for confirming my suspicions there

... and who knows if I'm not able to find it, maybe Image will release an US version one day?!? (also just ordered their recent release of the Magic Blade :))

Fingers crossed they still have it in stock Peter, that link is certainly my best bet at grabbing it at a reasonable price. I wouldn't count on Image releasing it, and I wouldn't hope for it to happen either. Image are bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to SB DVDs, they don't seem to care for quality. Anyways, I don't recall seeing HFOTMW on any lists of SB titles picked up for region 1 distribution. Which is kinda strange, as it could easily be termed a classic, and it's definitely a true audience-pleaser.
BCI has the US rights for both Bastard Swordsman films.
