One of the moderators on our board is having serious trouble. He writes

I can login and it shows my username, but I don’t see any forums… only a note that this board requires membership to view forums.
From the Admin interface, his user still looks normal, with all the correct permissions. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

I don't know, but while waiting for some tapatalk staff to wander by, I would try removing him from all groups and then adding him back to the groups you know he should be in.
That should reset the permissions again.

(that is what I would do anyway. If you try this, I can't imagine anything worse can happen, but it is up to you)

Thanks for the tip! I'll get one of the other admins to give it a shot and hopefully we'll get a staff answer on what has actually happened...

So, one of the other admins had checked that he was in the right groups, but when I went in now and checked the permissions on the user, he had zero permissions. So I took him out of the Global Moderators group and added him back. It looks like that did the trick. We'll see :)

By the way, I just got feedback that it worked. So thanks a lot @RAV4Club :)

We'd still like to know what happened, if possible...

good stuff :)

Probably not the cause here, but there is a permission setting that is (in my experience anyway) very rarely used - the 'Never' option rather then 'Yes' or 'No' and 'Never' overrides settings on any other groups  (I have only used 'Never' once or twice on my "banned" group and that was years ago).
If someone ended up in a group with a 'Never' in it, that could muck things right up no matter what permissions are in other groups :)

I wanted to add here to what RAV4Club said... "Never" should be used with great care.
It really does override any other setting, and no matter how many groups a member is in, if one of those groups has a 'never' setting, it will override the yes setting of the other groups.
