Case 15667 - Progress update needed

I raised the above ticket on 30 March this year, Case 15667. Despite assurances that it was being picked up by 'the technical team' there has been no further update since 8 April. Can you investigate please and provide a solution.

In summary, google searches are not being recognised on the following board:

Hi @peterMC
I consulted the tech team about the reported issue. Since the test board you have is lack of activity and content, it was not picked up by Google Index.

It isn't a test board Howdy, it is live. It is intended to be a static reference site, but the expectation was that the bots would trawl the board.  Content should have nothing to do with it - I can add loads more once I know that searches work - though I appreciate that bots may visit more regularly if there is activity (even if only manufactured by me).

I have looked at Google Index to see what can be improved but I need to place certain tags or files on pages, and obviously I do not have the developer permissions to do this.

What I need from your tech team is a solution that I can work with to improve the search results (or in this case, the complete lack of search results). Should I raise a ticket for this?

Lack of content and activity were the key reasons why the site was not indexed. Please continue adding content to your board. Post your board link in other board with more content and traffic.
You don't need to raise a ticket for this. The engineer is aware of this situation and will work on adding your site to Google Index.

Hi Peter I was looking at this link and since the two topics mentioned in it appeared to be locked no one can add content to it but yourself
And since what you've got in there appears to be complete and the search engines are picking up on the lack of activity to this particular section of the forum and will not get picked up by the search engines due to the lack of activity. So this forum will still be in the Google index search but will be way way down the list for people to find.

Thanks magicmuggle.  I'm not sure I really understand the indexing logic; I would have thought that any initial indexing of the board would have picked up the content and testphrases I've used from day one; I appreciate that lack of activity may mean the bots dont return again for some time, so any new content may take a while to appear in searches; but the content I had there should have been picked up by now.

The key for me is that (from a genealogical point of view) peoples names can be picked up by a search engine. So anyone searching for say, 'William Somerville Adams' or 'Geoffrey Easter Barrett' would find their way back to me.

I can add more content but unless it gets indexed, it hardly seems worthwhile.  Maybe its my misunderstanding, but I've seen lots of static or dormant sites on the web that are still searchable.

I know what you mean Peter. When Google scan a site and make a note of all the information but later when they go back to the site they see that no more information has been put on it they don't bother to update the original scan. So of course they're going to favour other sites with similar items on them and then your site is going to get shoved further down the list. And since those two items are locked nobody can add any further information except yourself.

It can be a very tedious process at times.

As an afterthought have you got the bots set for access to this particular area of the forum?

Yes bots should be able to access. I think there is something missing though and maybe the techies can help track it down, or force an index to start.
