chrispilot2293 has reported that some versions of GIMP may not properly convert your custom artwork to 16-color BMP files. The BMP file can be loaded properly as a catalog image, but when you select Grab to create a preview image out of it, the resultant preview image is mostly black.
I've downloaded GIMP 2.8.10 for Windows and tested the 16-color conversion and I've verified that it's not working. I think what's happening is that if the image requires less than 16 colors, the newer version of GIMP doesn't pad out the palette entries, rather truncates it to a lesser number. I should be able to accommodate this in a future version of iDmakeDL. In the current version we can avoid the mostly-black preview image: (1) in iDmakeDL click Load on the catalog image and select the less-than-16-color bmp image; (2) click Save on the catalog image; (3) click Load on the catalog image and select the bmp you saved in step 2; (4) click Grab on the catalog image. The preview image will appear correctly (no longer mostly-black).
Thank you chrispilot2293 for alerting us to this problem.
