An Ouchi No Deka Tamagotchi is a Japanese Home Deka Tamagotchi. Home Deka Tamagotchis are similar to In-Store Deka Tamagotchis, but are not nearly as big. An In-Store Deka Tamagotchi is huge - almost 30 cm tall. A Home Deka Tamagotchi is about 11 cm tall. In-Store Deka Tamagotchis are usually set up on display near a store's toy department. You can play games or purchase items (using Gotchi points) on the In-Store Deka Tamagotchi, and then connect your own Tamagotchi to it, to take home your prize. In the same manner as an In-Store Deka Tamagotchi, on a Home Deka Tamagotchi, you don't raise a character. There are two Home Deka Tamagotchi models.
The first model was released in July 2005. It looks like an over-sized KeiTama, and is available in two colours; standard blue, or Toys-R-Us green. The theme of this model is setting up house. Play games to earn Gotchi points, then go shopping to spend them. You can decorate your house with items you've purchased, or hire some builders to upgrade your house. Gotchi points that you've won on it can be transferred to these Japanese model Tamagotchis: KeiTama, Akai-series KeiTama, EnTama, and UraTama. The second model was released in October 2006. It looks like an over-sized EnTama and is available only in orange. The theme if this model is "King of the Games Championship". There are ten games on this model. The whole point of this model is to become champion of all ten games - to win at each of them, one after the other - in one sitting. You can practice each game in the Game Centre whenever you want and as many times as you want. When you feel up to it, you pay your admission fee and enter the Stadium. There, you will face each game in turn. If you win the current game, you're allowed to advance to the next one. But as soon as you lose, you're ejected from the competition. The next time you enter the Stadium, you have to start all over again. Gotchi points that you've won on this Home Deka Tamagotchi can be transferred to these Japanese model Tamagotchis: KeiTama, Akai-series KeiTama, EnTama, and UraTama. English-language instructions for the Home Deka Tamagotchi - "King of the Games Championship" model
After initial setup (set the date, time, etc), you'll see the main menu screen. It will appear on the Home Deka Tamagotchi as shown in the central portion of the image below.
Use the A button (left button) to scroll to your selection, and the B button (middle button) to enter it.
When you select Game Centre, you'll see a character walking along and then the Game Centre from the outside. Press the B button to enter the Game Centre, or press the C button (right button) to return to the main menu. Once in the Game Centre, you can choose which game you would like to practice. Press the A button to scroll through the different games, and the B button to activate your selection. Pressing the C button will return you to the main menu.
Flag - Game play is the same as on the V3. One or two flags will be shown at a time. When you see the black flag, press the A button. When you see the white flag, press the C button. When you see both flags, press both the A and C button at the same time. Sometimes the game tries to trick you by showing fake flags. They are smaller than real flags and appear for just an instant before the real flags appear. Ignore the fake flags. The amount of Gotchi points you win is based on how many rounds you can complete without making a mistake. Tip: I've noticed that when you press both buttons right after the two flags appear, the game sometimes thinks you pressed only one button. If this happens to you, try waiting just a half a blink before pressing the two buttons.
Heading - Game play is the same as on the V3. Use the A and C buttons to move left or right to get under the falling ball. Press the B button to jump up and bounce it off the top of the screen. Top prize is 400 Gotchi points for 20 rounds. Tip: move back to the centre of the screen after hitting the ball.
Memory - Game play is the same as on the V3. A sequence of left, up, and right-facing triangles is briefly shown on the screen. Use the buttons to repeat the sequence. A is for the left, B is for the up, and C is for the right-facing triangle. The amount of Gotchi points you win is based on how many rounds you can complete without making a mistake.
Fishing - Use the A & C buttons to adjust the height of the hook. When the hook lines up with the fish's mouth, press the B button. When the fish bites it, press the B button repeatedly to reel him in. If you don't press the B button with the right timing, the fish can get away. If the hook isn't at the right level for the fish to bite, you might catch something else (such as an old boot). If you've caught a fish, its length is displayed on the screen (in cm). Gotchi points are awarded based on how long the fish is.
Watermelon Seed Spitting - Your power gauge appears at the top of the screen. Its level constantly sways between low (empty of black) and high (completely black). Press the B button to launch the seed. The distance it travels depends on the power level. You get three tries. You are awarded Gotchi points based on your best results. Top prize is 400 Gotchi points for a distance of 130 m.
High / Low - This is a kind of card game. The deck is shuffled, and one card turned up. Press the A button if you think the next card will be lower than that currently shown, the C button if you think it will be higher, or press the B button to quit. If you guessed correctly, the game continues using the card that was turned over. If you guessed wrong, you lose and don't win any Gotchi points. If you quit (pressed B), you are awarded Gotchi points based on how many correct guesses you made. Tip: the numbers on the cards range from 1 to 13. Tip: if the card turned over is the same as the current card, it doesn't matter which way you guessed, it counts as correct.
Balance - As the board starts tipping, press the A button to lean to the left, or press the C button to lean to the right. Gotchi points are awarded based on how long you were able to stay on the board.
Face Making - Slices of pictures of various Tamagotchi character's faces will rotate across the top, middle, and bottom of the screen. The first press of the A button will stop the top slice. The second press of the A button will stop the middle slice. The third press of the A button will stop the bottom slice. If all three slices make a proper picture you win. The amount of Gotchi points awarded is based on which character's face you were able to assemble.
Run and Jump - This is a race. You start with 120 seconds. The amount of Gotchi points awarded is based on how many seconds are left on the clock when you cross the finish line. Press the A button repeatedly to get the character to run. Press the B button to jump over the rocks. Tip: stop pressing the A button as soon as you see a rock appear on the screen.
Egg Drop - Eggs are falling from the sky. Use the A and C buttons to move left or right. Avoid the eggs - both the falling ones and broken ones on the ground. Broken eggs are automatically cleaned up after a moment. The game ends the third time you get hit by a falling egg, or step on a broken egg. Gotchi points are awarded based on how long you were able to stay in the game.
When you select Tama Tower, you'll see a character walking along and then the Tama Tower from the outside. Press the B button to enter the Tama Tower, or press the C button to return to the main menu.
Entering Tama Tower, you become a contestant on a TV Quiz show. The host will ask the question, and then you have to pick the correct answer. Use the A button to scroll through the possible answers, and the B button to select it. You have to answer before your opponent does. There are five questions per show. Your prize (number of Gotchi Points) depends on how many questions you answered correctly.
Note: This may be difficult if you can't read Japanese quickly.
GOTCHI KING'S CASTLE
When you select Gotchi King's Castle, you'll see a character walking along and then the Gotchi King's Castle from the outside. Press the B button to enter the Gotchi King's Castle, or press the C button to return to the main menu.
The Gotchi King is having a lottery that you can enter. Tickets cost 100 Gotchi points each. If you haven't visited the king today, he will explain the lottery. Either way, his servants will then ask how many (more) tickets you would like to buy. Press the A button to select how many. Press the B button to hand over your money, or press the C button to cancel the purchase and leave without paying. Tickets are good only on the day sold.
You must return to the Gotchi King's Castle after 8 PM that day. During that visit, your tickets are stuck onto a large roulette wheel. The king throws a dart at the wheel while it's rotating. The part of your ticket that the dart lands on determines your prize:
area 4 = 100 Gotchi points
area 3 = 500 Gotchi points
area 2 = 1000 Gotchi points
area 1 = 10000 Gotchi points
Only one prize is awarded per day. If the dart doesn't hit one of your tickets at all, you don't win anything. The prize amount you win is the total prize; it is not multiplied by the number of tickets you had.
If you visit the Gotchi King's Castle after 8 PM and you didn't have any tickets, or you already attended the dart throwing earlier, you're ejected back outside the castle.
When you select Stadium, you'll see a character walking along and then the Stadium from the outside. Press the B button to enter the Stadium, or press the C button to return to the main menu. Once in the Stadium, you'll be reminded that it costs 100 Gotchi points to enter the competition. Then you'll be asked if you want to enter the competition. Select the top option to pay your money and enter the competition, or select the bottom option keep your money and leave the stadium.
Taking the challenge - this is the "King of the Games" challenge. There are ten different games. The games are held in ten host sites on Tamagotchi Planet.
At the beginning of each game you will be informed of the score you need to make in order to clear (win) that challenge. If you win you will be transported on to the next game. If you lose you have to start from the beginning again.
When you select Bank, you'll see a character walking along and then the Bank from the outside. Press the B button to enter the Bank, or press the C button to return to the main menu. Once in the Bank, press the A button to scroll through the different menu options, and the B button to activate your selection. Pressing the C button will return you to the main menu. The Bank menu entries are shown below:
Bank Book - shows your current Gotchi points balance (for your cash on hand). The maximum you can have is 999999 Gotchi points.
Withdraw - allows you to transfer Gotchi points to your Japanese model Tamagotchis: KeiTama, Akai-series KeiTama, EnTama, and UraTama. Use the A button to select the amount of Gotchi points you would like to transfer. Then press the B button to send it, or the C button to return to the Bank menu without sending it. The maximum you can withdraw per transaction is 9990 Gotchi points. Tip: each time you press the A button the amount increases by 10 Gotchi points, but you can press and hold the A button to increase the amount quickly. Tip: in your UraTama, EnTama, KeiTama, or Akai-series KeiTama connect menu, you need to select "Deka Tama".
Term Deposit - if you don't already have a term deposit already, you will be prompted to enter the amount you would like to deposit. Use the A button to select the amount of Gotchi points you would like to deposit. Then press the B button deposit it, or the C button to return to the Bank menu without depositing it. The minimum deposit is 1000 Gotchi points. Each time you press the A button, the amount increases by 1000 Gotchi points. The maximum deposit is 99000 Gotchi points. You can have only one term deposit at a time. Term deposits must remain in the bank for five days; you can not take the money out early.
- if you have a term deposit already, but it has been less than five days since you deposited it, you will be shown a dialog stating that it hasn't matured yet, and will be ejected from the bank.
- if you have a term deposit already, and it has already been five days or more since you deposited it, you will be shown its current value and given the money. Term deposits earn 10% interest. Example: if you deposited 3000 Gotchi points into a term deposit, after five days, you would be get 3300 Gotchi points (your original 3000 Gotchi points plus 300 Gotchi points interest).
When you select Records, you'll see a character walking along and then a large trophy. Press the B button to view your records, or press the C button to return to the main menu. Your records will appear on seven screens. Press the A button to advance to the next screen, or press the C button to return to the large trophy.
Rank - your overall rank appears on the second line of the first page you see when you view your records. The ranks are:
Lifetime earnings - the total amount you've earned so far from the Game Centre and Tama Tower. Note this is not how much money you have; you may have spent some on entrance fees to the Stadium, or on the Gotchi King's lottery.
Flag - your best score, in number of rounds.
Heading - your best score, in number of rounds.
Memory - your best score, in number of rounds.
Fishing - size (length) of your biggest catch, in cm.
Watermelon Seed Spitting - your longest distance, in m.
High / Low - the highest level you quit at.
Balance record - the number of seconds you stayed on the board.
Face Making - the total number of faces you've made.
Run and Jump - your best time, in number of seconds remaining on the clock when you crossed the finish line.
Egg Drop - the number of seconds you were able to stay in the game.
The challenge games icons indicate which challenge games in the Stadium you've previously cleared (won).
SETTING THE CLOCK
To view the clock, press the B button while viewing the Records.
To set the clock, go into the clock screen then press the A button while holding down the C button. The A button changes the value of the item that the cursor is on. The B button moves the cursor to the next item. The C button moves the cursor to the previous item.
To change the clock between 12 hour and 24 hour format, go into the clock screen then press the A button.
To exit the clock screen, press the B button.
If you haven't pressed any buttons for about 15 minutes, the Home Deka Tamagotchi will enter sleep mode. You will see a sort of "screen saver" when it's in sleep mode. Pressing any button will wake up the Home Deka Tamagotchi. The sleep screen saver looks like this:
LOW BATTERY & RESET
If the batteries run out, replace them then press the reset button on the back of the unit.
If the unit locks up or behaves abnormally, press the reset button on the back of the unit.
After pressing the reset button, a Load / Reset menu will appear. Select Load (the top option) to restore your previous settings, or select Reset (the bottom option) to erase all previous settings. Don't forget to set the clock to the correct time.
