This article is an explanation of EnTama & e-tamago login and logout passwords.

I've posted this article in several pieces so it's easier to read.

Part 1. Before you ask...

Q: What's an EnTama?
A: It is a Japanese Tamagotchi.  Its full name is "Cho Jinsei Enjoy! Tamagotchi Plus", but that's a bit long, so we usually call it just "EnTama".  It was released in Nov. 2005.  There are pictures here:
http://tamagotch.channel.or.jp/entama/lineup.html
and here:
http://www.geocities.com/karr1213/entama.html
There are English-language guides here:
http://www.pixelmood.com/entama.htm
and here:
http://wa.ctk23.ne.jp/~rei-00/entama2.htm

Q: What is e-tamago?
A: Actually, "e-tamago" is part of the Japanese TamaTown web site's address.  "TamaTown" in Japanese is also pronounced "TamaTown", but to avoid confusion we say "e-tamago" when we mean the Japanese one.  The actual site is here:
http://e-tamago.com/pc/index.html

Part 2. What do the passwords look like?

There are 14 digits; 2 rows of 7 digits each.  Before I explain further, we need to set a standard for the name of each digit.  Let's label the digits with letters.  "a" for the first, 'b" for the second, et cetera.  I've labeled them, and arranged them as they appear on the EnTama screen, and on the e-tamago password window.  So, from now on when I refer to "f" it means the sixth digit; the one second from the right on the top row.

abcdefg
hijklmn

Code: Select all

Part 3. What information is sent from an EnTama to e-tamago in the login password?

2 digits identify the character species.  This is the character you see on-screen.

2 digits identify the parent species.  You can see this when you visit the parent's house.

2 digits identify the news headline.  You can see this when you visit TamaTower.

2 digits identify the occupation.  You can see this when you visit the business card maker in the Game Center.

2 digits identify the destination.  This is TamaTown vs a TamaTour locale.  For TamaTown destinations, the character's development level is also included in these 2 digits.

2 digits are for the session ID.  These seem to be random, and are regenerated for each new login password.

1 digit indicates which of five sequences is used to encode the data.

1 digit is the checksum.  This is a simply the sum of all other digits, modulus 10.

Part 4. Which digits hold which pieces of information?

There are five sequences.  The only constant is the digit in location "f".  It contains the identifier for the sequence type.

This sequence is for when "f" is 0 or 1.

(3) pick two random numbers to use as the session ids.  Let's use "32".  Fill in the information we have so far.

a = parent id1 = 4
b = checksum = ?
c = news item id2 = 4

Part 12. Logout Passwords

A logout password is basically the login password with the destination and news headline digits replaced with an item code.  The encoding sequence may be different, and a new checksum has been calculated.  All other data is the same.

destination id1 -> item id1
destination id2 -> item id2
news item id1 -> item id3
news item id2 -> item id4

Code: Select all

Part 14. Example of create you own logout password

(1) get a login password from your EnTama:
1800062
1600914

abcdefg
hijklmn

(2) determine the sequence.  The digit at "f" is 6, so we will use this sequence.  To make it easy, we'll be using the same sequence for the logout password, so we'll be changing only the destination, news item, and the checksum.

g = character id1 = 2
d = character id2 = 0
l = checksum = 9
f = defines sequence order = 6
n = destination id1 = 4
m = destination id2 = 1
c = news item id1 = 0
b = news item id2 = 8
k = occupation id1 = 0
h = occupation id2 = 1
j = parent id1 = 0
e = parent id2 = 0
a = session id1 = 1
i = session id2 = 6

(3) select the item you'd like your Tamagotchi to receive.

item = ?-hatena mate card 3 (5187)

(4) substitute the item code for the destination and news item codes, and remove the checksum.

a = session id1 = 1
b = news item id2 = 7
c = news item id1 = 8
d = character id2 = 0
e = parent id2 = 0
f = defines sequence order = 6
g = character id1 = 2
h = occupation id2 = 1
i = session id2 = 6
j = parent id1 = 0
k = occupation id1 = 0
l = checksum = ?
m = destination id2 = 1
n = destination id1 = 5

(Note: this table is organized best for encoding digits.  The table in the step above is for the same sequence, but is organized best for decoding.  You can quickly go from that table to this one by sorting it.)

(4) calculate the checksum.  Add all the digits together.
1 + 7 + 8 + 0 + 0 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 6 + 0 + 0 + 1 + 5 = 37
Use the right-most digit of the sum as the checksum.  Sum = 37, so checksum = 7.

a = session id1 = 1
b = news item id2 = 7
c = news item id1 = 8
d = character id2 = 0
e = parent id2 = 0
f = defines sequence order = 6
g = character id1 = 2
h = occupation id2 = 1
i = session id2 = 6
j = parent id1 = 0
k = occupation id1 = 0
l = checksum = 7
m = destination id2 = 1
n = destination id1 = 5

(5) place the digits in their correct positions.

abcdefg
hijklmn

1780062
1600715

(6) enter it into your EnTama and confirm it.

If you have a Windows based computer, instead of performing the calculations manually, you can use EnWarehouse. It's a program that will generate a log out code for when you want to purchase items or get freebies (items listed in part 13 above). EnWarehouse is available at Tamenagerie, on this page.

OsuMesu21 made an illustrated guide to EnWarehouse, and posted it here.

Note from binary: from the above link you can find EnWarehouse v3. This version supports the Japanese models: EnTama, UraTama, and Hanerutchi2. The transformation chart below is required only if you are using EnWarehouse v1 with an UraTama. EnWarehouse v3 detects which model Tamagotchi you are using it with, and automatically displays items for that model in its menus.

The program was written before the UraTama came out, so the items shown are for the EnTama only. However you can still use it for the UraTama. When you obtain an EnTama item from EnWarehouse and give it to your UraTama, the item will be transformed into an UraTama item. Here is a chart showing translation of EnTama to UraTama free items:
