And even more classic NASCAR: This time, I went for something a little more exciting... the 2002 running of "The Winston", the annual big-bucks all-star event. As always, there were fireworks on the track as well as in the air! LOL Ryan Newman won the $750,000 driving the #12 AllTel Ford Taurus for ...

Re: What was the last movie you watched 2?

You really loved ‘Down Periscope’, didn’t you, Michael? :) I certainly did! With a review like that, I’ll have to get a copy post-haste :) Ah, just be warned that it does turn quite silly at times (the scene where the crew of the sub sings "Louie Louie", and the scene with the whale song) - however...

More classic NASCAR from the endless Youtube vaults: The slightly dullish 1992 Miller Genuine Draft 500 at the Pocono Raceway - "The Tricky Triangle" - near Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Darrell Waltrip won the race in his self-owned #17 Western Auto Chevrolet Lumina by outlasting his competitors in a fu...

Re: What We're Reading

I just finished the 1975 suspense novel The Snow Tiger by Desmond Bagley. IMO, it's a captivating, multi-threaded story that deals with the hearings following a violent avalanche that decimated a town somewhere in New Zealand. While the various testimonies are presented by the survivors and field ex...

Re: Attention fanfic and Uber bards - whatcha got cookin'?

I've been thinking hard about fictionpress.com as well (several times, actually), but I always run afoul of their content ratings which are far, far too restrictive, IM-H-O. Their highest rating is 'Fiction M' which is described as: Not suitable for children or teens below the age of 16 with non-exp...

More classic NASCAR:

The 1991 Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Dale Jarrett (#21 CITGO Wood Brothers Ford Thunderbird) won the race; it was the first victory for the later Winston Cup champion.

Re: Chat room

Tobias, it's not there today. Yesterday, the new chatroom feature showed up as a rectangular, white roll-up box in the bottom-right corner of the screen. The roll-up was 'on top' of everything else, so perhaps it was some kind of test by the Tapa developers.

That's great, Phineas :)

The last book I read was The Empty Copper Sea by John D. MacDonald.

A pretty good crime thriller, IMO. It's the seventeenth in the long-running series starring the self-proclaimed 'salvage consultant' Travis McGee.

Hmmm... but moaning about the missing Valentine's Day Invitational hasn't helped - at least not yet. Since I got no reply from the first two head honchos over at the Academy on the status of the Invitational, I've now emailed the third of 'em. Yes, indeed :)

Musetta Vander played Illainus in Amphipolis Under Siege, of course, and the director made one of the best episodes in season 1, "The Greater Good," so it was a mini-Xena-reunion of sorts :)
