Yeah, that's the reason why I picked her Serena, she was so much fun, and could steal scene's just as bad as Salmoneus.

I like Ares also, he would come in second for me

Yeah that would sum it up for me also LJ, I liked Ares character during the Hind Episodes and the first few episodes of Season 4, then after "Porkules" the writing staff neutered his character, and made him Herc's version of a buffoon like Joxer.

I preferred the God Of War, that was written on Xena, through out her entire run, then the neutered wimpy version, that was on Herc the last 2 and a half seasons.

and I think you know I prefer the comic relief Ares, as this is his natural role in both series."a little less conversation, a little more action please"

I preferred the dark scary Ares, found him more attractive, the way he was written in "The Reckoning", "Ties That Bind", "Dirty Half Dozen", "Encounter", "When A Man Loves A Woman", "Judgement Day", "End Of THe Beginning", "Two Men And A Baby"

Smithy was great as a comedian, but my Ares was the dark menacing God Or War, that was the character I was attracted to.

The comedic Ares does not do anything for me, other than for thud value when his shirt was off in "Old Ares Had A Farm" and "You Are There"

A few days ago, I posted a rather lengthy explanation as to the function the characters of the gods should fulfill in shows like HTLJ and XWP. Bottom line was: they have to be one-dimentional because of a very specufuc role they have in the plots. HTLJ's writers got it, XWP's writers completely misses it."a little less conversation, a little more action please"

With this series I feel the opposite and that's why I chose Aphrodite for HTLJ only. I think they wrote themselves into a corner on XWP by making Aphrodite actually friends with Gabrielle. On HTLJ, she could pick sides and change sides and have all the conflicted feelings she wanted. She could be incredibly petty and cute at the same time.

Yeah she did have a petty side to her in "The Apple" and "Love Takes A Holiday"

I have a problem as to the way Xena was written the past 2 seasons of her show, but Season 5, I will point out, the Herc writing staff wrote the 1st 14 episodes of the show, because Xena's original writing staff was over at Cleopatra 2525.

By then the damage was done with that awful "Twilight Of The God" and Xena's awful pregnancy storyline was writting by them, and not by RJ Stewert.

On HTLJ, it would be Ares and Aphrodite. When I read Greek mythology as a kid, my favorites were Athena and Mercury. As you all know, I HATED the way Athena was portrayed on Xena.

I liked Ares the way he was written in the Hind Episodes, not the cartoonish Joxer version the last few season's.

And Dite does rule

Actually I liked the way Paris Jefferson protrayed Athenia on Xena, and loved how her character put Ares in his place in "Amphipolis Under Siege"

But then again, the Herc writing staff wrote that character on Xena, not the Xena writing staff, because they were busy writing Cleo/JOAT
