The company HERPA from Germany make models in the 1/87 scale, but in the 80th HERPA made some cars in the scale 1/66.
The price from this cars was ca. 4 - 5 DM and this price was to expensive in that time. In a period time they canceled this serie. The company is from Germany, but the cars are made in China.
I have only the two policecars from the Herpa 1/66 serie:

Though it's not Herpa Junior, it is a Herpa miniature

It is a promotional made for Audi, though apparently sold seperately as well.

I would love to get some of these at some point. I have around 300-400 Herpa 1/87 cars and it is my favourite brand in that scale.

Does anyone know if these are actually diecast, or if they are plastic? They look cool either way, but I can't tell by the pics alone if they are metal or plastic

Appreciate it! I'll be seeing what they look like in person in just a few weeks! I was able to get that Junior Truck BMW 6 pack from Greece for under $30 shipped. This is one of the reasons I love and hate Swifty's. I love finding out about new and cool die-cast to add to my collection, however my wallet isn't exactly so thankful

YES , the base plate (chassis) and the vehicle (body) are made of metal, the interior is not.
The price was very high at 4.50 DM at the time and this metal series has not lasted long on the market.

Thanks for sharing those awesome pics Dean! I would love to get my hands on one of those Golfs. I wish the 6 pack I'm getting had 6 different models, or at least a few different instead of all the same BMW, but beggars can't be choosers right?

Did anyone ever see the Golf III in the wild?
I have never ever seen one except on the catalog images.
Would be great to have one .

The series was suddenly discontinued at that time, probably the prices for car models with 4 - 5 euros were too high for the market.
The Golf has not made it to the shops. Presumably it was not made anymore and there is only the photo pattern for the catalog.
The catalog was at least in the blister-packed models, in the (later) car was probably the catalog not more settled.
I have never seen a VW Golf Polizei anywhere, not even shown - except for the picture in the cat log.

I was able to purchase the Mercedes and BMW 3 series while in Germany in 1998. While they were nicely executed, I've always found them to be disappointingly small. You wouldn't think 1/66 scale would make much of a difference from 1/64, but these models just don't match up well with similar castings from other brands (probably because they are slightly larger than 1/64- such as the Matchbox and Majorette BMW 3 series and Hot Wheels C class race car).
