Which is too bad. Think of some of the most defining moments of TARC, and there's usually drama. Mentos karma. Body Break breaking bad in Saskatchewan. Ashley mugging for the camera. Jillian littering in Montreal. We lose out if nothing like this happens.

^True!

And Jon's "the way that they worked collectively together" sounds frightening, actually. lol

TARCAN becoming a team-building exercise/travel show hybrid. :(

So M/M came in last, got eliminated. Those dumb F/F who couldn't even count to 21, came in last is NON elimination leg. Can they rig the show any further?

It's the Calgary leg from two seasons/years ago all over again, a F9 NEL for a non-Caucasian all-female team!

"What the...."
"OOW-WAH!"

The blackjack comp was a good example of bad randomness. Some teams had dealer bust, which has the simplest rules, while others had pushes or aces, which have the most complicated rules. The number of teams that couldn't count made me cry. I laughed at the pure glee Courtney felt at getting Adam in a dress.

Maybe because I've known how to play blackjack (at the very least knowing the basic rules like 21, Ace can be 1 or 11, etc) since I was a kid, the blackjack Detour seemed ridiculous lol Though I've never actually played any table games at a casino before. And I never knew anything about a "push" or what to do when there's a "tie."

Yeah, I know the basic rules too. But as an example: player has 18. Dealer has an ace, turns a seven. Does dealer hit? Dealer is supposed to halt on 16 or over, but dealer isn't in winning position (it's a push) and dealer can also have eight. Damned if I know.

Alright. This was a much better episode as we got to know the team dynamics of most of these teams.

Can we say that as much as MartinaGODDESS was hilarious with her purposefully bad Asian accent memorization strategy at the poker detour, if another non-Asian team had done it, SJWs would've been after them? Also, Martina should've partnered with someone else just as trainwrecky as her as I think Phil is a dud.

Meanwhile, the true breakout team of this episode was... Adam and Courtney? :lbf BOTTOMGODDESS (sorry Joseph/Akash, they should've been eliminated this episode)  I swear, I keep hearing Kelsey Faith every time Courtney speaks and she sounds just as passive-aggro as her sister < 3 alol :lbf. Adam's voice also reminds me of someone but I cannot figure out who. That confessional of Courtney asking Adam point blank if they are already fighting. :lbf

Leanne/Mor is starting to show Tian/Jaree vibes and I will be here for it. LOL at failing at a dancing challenge. "I am a cheerleader but I am a PROMOTIONAL CHEERLEADER! NOT A DANCER!" :lbf

Nancy/Melissa aka Team Acquaintance/Nepotism is still an oddball team that are still fake-nice to each other but they willl unravel soon and I am looking forward to their blueberry pie meltdown next week.

Salt Spring Island should be a good leg. I didn't even think of that place as a TARCAN location six seasons later.

Yeah, Courtney sounds a lot like her sister. The jump and kiss thing for every celebration is a little forced, but they do have those moments (the fighting thing, her laughing at him in a dress) that are genuine and fun.

The cheerleader thing wasn't "promotional", it was "competitive", wasn't it? I thought she was saying that she was one of those people who did cheerleading competitions, like the big ones in the States that they do between high schools, so she's used to highly regimented team routines that rely more on gymnastic skill than rhythm.

Dealer has to hit on 16 or soft 17 (A6,A24 etc) and stay on hard 17 (10,7 eg) or over..the Ace seven is 18 so the dealer has to stay.

"We need a young priest and an old priest."

The knot and the pie challenges were perfect. They took time, they were difficult enough that they changed team order (and they flushed out all three Express Passes), and the pie one was pretty entertaining.

"HA HA HA HA"
*FLOURGFH*
"HA HA HA HA"

It seemed like a lot of teams finished their knot when they had the little bird on their wrist. Confirmation bias on my part, or was there something about having a lighter bird that helped in the task?

The knot challenge was good, though the pie one was just a lot of vomiting (it got rid of two express passes at least).

I wonder if the blind u-turn contributes to the lack of drama. If you can't see who tried to knock you off, you can't get angry with them. The drama formula for the Race is pretty simple:

On the u-turn leg, place the u-turn (not blind) after a detour with two difficult tasks. That makes it more likely teams will use it, since they think they'll eliminate the target. Make the leg non-elimination, so all u-turned teams are still in the Race and know exactly who tried to off them.

On the following leg, bunch the racers at the start of the leg, then keep all the tasks (including the speedbump) relatively easy except for the final roadblock before the pit stop. It should be long, difficult, and should be mildly easier if teams collaborate. The perfect example of what I'm saying: the Mentos task in season two. Long even if you do things perfectly, required exacting attention to detail, and other people could help you in a limited fashion by spotting errors you missed. You get teams banding together to eliminate people, the people who aren't doing the task start sniping back and forth, it's great for getting teams all riled up.
