Sincere apologies, folks. I had this completed last night after the episode, but LiveJournal had “cluster” issues (insert sarcastic joke here) and I haven’t been able to post until now. Hope you enjoy!
Another season over, another hellatus begun. And once more I’m exhausted. This show, you guys. This *show*.
Ramble for 8.23 - Sacrifice
As always, would love to hear from you, should you choose to read. If not, here's to a 'happy' hellatus and I hope to see you next season!
First- I love your rambles. You bring so much perspective. I hope you will continue this as long as our show has stories to tell. Thank you!
Regarding this episode, I had several random thoughts.
I also questioned how Sam's tainted blood could be purified and usable for the ritual just by confession. ??? I must also say that I was a little shocked at Dean when he was telling Sam what to confess. I know Dean is probably still a little more than hurt that Sam did not look for him in Purgatory, but I really thought he had gotten well beyond pushing the issue especially now at the third trial after all the care he has shown for his brother. It just seemed off. A writer's ploy to get us to the speeches given by both brothers in the end. As if we wouldn't remember the struggles from the beginning of this season.
I loved the way they tricked and cuffed Crowley.
One of my favorite lines was Dean with Cas in the bar, "What show you been watching?" However, I agree that Dean seemed way to nonchalant at this moment with all that was going on.
When Dean returned to the church to stop Sam from completing the trial, I had a moment of deja vu. I was so afraid that Sam in his frenzied state would not listen to Dean when he told him to stop just as he didn't listen at the end of season 4 in another church and killed Lillith to raise Lucifer. I was thrilled when he trusted Dean and let it go.
I have been so impressed with the growth and maturity of one Dean Winchester this season. Everyone else may get trials to do but Dean is the steadfast constant that they all revolve around.
Excited to see where they take us next year with fallen angels, a graceless Cas, and the unknown mind set of the King of Hell.
Hoping you may have time this summer to write a story or two to get us through the summer.
