I finally want to do a tutorial for those banner makers out there! Here is the banner I will be teaching you to do; I used Photoshop CS4. I don't it is transferable. I never used GIMP or Paint Shop Pro. You could try. It is mostly selective color.

1. I used this picture; http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/4387/mq003n.jpg
It is from edwardandbella.net. Where ever you place it is your choice. But if your picture doesn't need brightening then skip this step. It depends on the picture. This is how you light it up.
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1751/tut1r.png

2. After lightening it up I move to selective coloring. Here is the stats I used for my picture.
REDS
-100 0 +24 0
YELLOWS
-52 0 +58 0
GREENS
+100 +100 +100 0
CYANS
+100 +16 -27 +43
BLUES
+100 0 0 0
MAGENTAS
+100 +100 +100 +100
WHITES
+100 0 0 0
NEUTRALS
+19 -2 +15 0
BLACKS
0 0 0 0
then click okay.

3. I used this texture which I made myself. It was very easy. I filled the new layer with white then took a black soft brush around the edges. Just copy the texture
http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/8123/texturej.png I made the layer to soft light.

4. You could stop here if you like the way it is without test but if now continue. I used Curves.
RGB
O:69 I: 59
O: 141 I: 155
RED
O: 138 I: 150
GREEN
O: 64 I: 120
O: 171 I: 174
BLUE
O: 142 I: 163
then click okay.

5. Now with the text, The font is Gilles' Comic Font. I found on dafont.com.
I typed edward and bella. Where you see fx in the layer box. I click on it and used drop shadow and stroke. Whatever you want it.

THEN you are done. I would to see your final product and I hope you understand the tutorial because it is my first one.

This looks like a nice, easy tutorial. :) Unfortunately I don't have Photoshop, only GIMP and Paint Shop Pro, so no selective color for me. :( But there are ways to get that effect with both programs - mostly playing with color balance and channel mixer. I'm going to try that and see if I can get it close to your results. I'll post it when I'm done.

Okay. I am sorry I don't GIMP very well. I do had Paint Shop Pro years ago. I am sure it could be transferable.

No worries. :) I did experiment a bit and I think this came out pretty good:

I experimented with channel mixer and color balance. Not the exact same as the result you got, but I kinda like it. :) I saved all the steps I made, so if you or anyone else is interested in how to get similar results I could post them. :)

It looks great! Apparently it is transferable to GIMP. I love it.
