Paul who understood Jesus to say that worship was not in the PLACE of Samaria or Jerusalem: Worship was always IN SPIRIT. That is a PLACE as opposed to houses built by human hands or worship by the WORKS of human hands. If one says that Christ did not define the ekklesia INCLUSIVE to teach what He commanded to be taught and EXCLUSIVE of the Scribes and Pharisee, hypocrites (speakers, singers, instrument players) then they are not SUPPOSED to either READ or HEAR the Word which was PREACHED by being READ in the synagogue.
Upon the woman at the well saying that "you Jews say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem," Jesus says that a time is coming in which the woman would worship God neither in the mountains of Samaria nor in Jerusalem, and that they would worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:19-24). "God is a spirit," Jesus says, "and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
So rather than in the place of Jerusalem and the mountain, the new place in in spirit and truth. The truly spiritual separates us from the body (Romans 12:1-3) with the reasonable service or spiritual worship to be absent from the body. To be purely free from substance (body) is must be through ideas or spirit or words.
