Thought some of you might find this article interesting about the $130 million remodel project at First Baptist Dallas.

That's wonderful: that's a lot of stuff to carry with you when you lift off!

God informed Solomon that He doesn't live in houses built by human hands nor is He worshipped by the works of human hands. So, there must be another "god" of the mega builders and widow fleecers.

Must be that Happy,Hoppy Ishtar God!

But, paraphrasing Paul: fools love to be fooled.

A 60-ft. cross with water jets; a mile's worth of pews; a 142-ft. video screen; an entire orchestra platform that can be raised; colored LED lighting; and vast areas of glass, glitz, and glitter. These are just a sample of the multiple amenities listed in this 130 MILLION-DOLLAR expansion and restoration project that uses "technology to enhance worship," because, according to the church's pastor, "God cares about architecture." Really?

"Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet" (Acts 7:48 KJV).

"God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands" (Acts 17:24 KJV).

Here is just one more mega-church that has fallen under the delusion that spending astronomical sums to outfit a worship center with astoundingly worldy eye and ear candy will boost and maintain a truly "spiritual" environment.

You remember the Crystal Cathedral? Well it went belly up. I suspect that the new pastor-person has counted too many chickens and some bank will be holding title to a Herod's Temple to be taken down stone by stone.

It would be interesting to see what the contribution of this fairly small mega church is. People who are sucked into a seeker center are not likely to be big givers.
