Paul Outlawed prophesying in tongues with a specific Greek Word.
He commanded that we seek meaning to study zealously to understand the word of God so that we can PROPHESY by explaining the revealed word of God.

Besides digging to find out how specific words are used in Greek and Latin, you will never understand Paul's "hard to understand" writings because he intended that the false and unstable teachers find them DYNAMITE which can help you zealously seek the Word or blow your head off.

The way to handle it to get its power you have to search for pagan religions which actually used the words Paul used.

THE MUSIC AT THE ARCANE RITES. Iamblichus III

In addition to these things you remark as follows: "So also certain others of these ecstatics become entheast or inspired when they hear cymbals, drums, or some choral chant, 21 as, for example, those who are engaged in the Korybantic Rites, 22 those who are possessed at the Sabazian festival and those who are celebrating the Rites of the Divine Mother."23

21. Some exhibition of this kind is described by the Apostle Paul in the first Epistle to the Corinthians. "If," says he, "the whole assembly come together to the same place and all prattle in tongues, and common men should come in, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are raving?"

Hence he counsels that only two or three should speak in turn, and one interpret; but if nobody present is capable of this, they should keep silence, and speak only to themselves and to God:

"for not of tumult is he a god, but of tranquillity." (Ovid; Fasti IV,
"The attendants beat the brass, and the hoarse-sounding hides. Cymbals
they strike in place of helmets, tambourines for the shields; the pipe yielded its Phrygian notes.")

While you are listening to some sick soul insisting that you worship him God is busy making him into a laughingstock as at Mount Sinai.

Paul draws a radical difference between

Speaking the Word of God as "prophesying"
And "speaking" in tongues out of one's one spirit

Paul commanded us to SPEAK one to another with "that which is written for our learning." The word LOGOS or the Word is defined as in a conversational style which is defined as OPPOSITE to poetry or music.

The speaking in tongues is Laleo which word is used of the chattering or gibbering of pseudo prophets in the pagan temples.

A^l-e ,Mark of the Locusts
II. chatter, opp. articulate speech, as of locusts, chirp, Theoc.5.34; mesmbrias lalein tettix (sc. eimi), a very grasshopper to chirp at midday,
III. of musical sounds, aul [flute] lale Theoc.20.29; of trees, v.supr.1.2; di'aulou [flute] salpiggos l.[trumpet] Arist. Aud.801a29; of Echo, D.C.74.14: also c.acc. cogn., magadin lalein sound the magadis, Anaxandr.35. [double flute]

A disciple wants to know that Paul uses a word which ANYONE pretending to know enough to sow discord should understand.

In the ekklesia or synagogue we LOGOS related to the written Logos of the Personified Logos SPEAKS in order to teach and admonish: edify is EDUCATE

In paganism or sorcery we "laleo" or chatter which is the OPPOSITE of articulate speech. We ""Laleo" or chatter with flutes, trummpets and harps.

WE hear Paul SAY when WE define the words PAUL used. If we don't READ the whole Bible connecting instruments to vile people then WE simply do not care enough to define words. Even in English Composition we DEFINE words or we cannot get beyond McGuffy's Reader. Theologians and Preachers violate the DIRECT COMMAND for the synagogue which is to PREACH the Word (only) by READING the Word (only).

Christ speaks in ASSERTIVE commands: He commanded us to speak what HE commanded to be taught. HE did not command the use of MUJSIC to accompany. He called the Scribes and Pharisees (the visible audible) hypocrites by Christ naming speakers, singers and instrument players.

Paul DID say many times SHUT DOWN THE SOPHISTS,

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Any one who can define words KNOWS that Paul is EXCLUDING all of the performing arts and crafts. You MUST understand that before you LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL THE CHURCH HOUSE OF WIDOWS.

Ken said "Theologians and Preachers violate the DIRECT COMMAND for the synagogue which is to PREACH the Word (only) by READING the Word (only)."

It says to SING Ken.

Ephesians 5
9Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, SINGING and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Donnie, bail him out....again.

Again, the inability to read Black text on Brown paper is called a strong delusion.

Ephesians 5
9Speaking to yourselves

The Resource: in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, or "that which is written for our learning" Rom 15. That is SPIRIT in Ephesians 5 and the WORD OF CHRIST in Colossians 3.

SINGING and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Now remedial reading grade 6 would be able to identify two different prepositional phrases

SPEAKING is "to yourselves"

Singing and Melody is "in your heart."

Why insult the Spirit (Jesus Christ) by saying that HE was not as smart as all of the pseudo-scholars? Why not

"Sing and make melody upon a harp TO ONE ANOTHER?"

I believe that common MISS reading to be the mark of A STRONG DELUSION which produces LYING WONDERS which would be the seeing Ephesians 5 as a MUSICAL or theatrical performance.

The operative direct command is to SPEAK the Word of Christ.
The result is that the effect will be in the HEART (a place) which is the only place God looks for our worshi.

Colossians 3
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Matthew 26
30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives

THAT, Ken, is meter....notes....vibrations of the vocal cords.

Ken, "THEY," in Matthew 26:30 includes Jesus.....you do know that, right?

A hymn:
hymnus , i, m., = humnos,
divinorum scriptor hymnorum, Lact. 4, 8, 14; Vulg. Psa. 60 tit.; id. Matt. 26, 30.

Lactantius Book IV. Of True Wisdom and Religion.
His father, the writer of sacred hymns, thus speaks in the thirty-second Psalm: ... My heart hath given utterance to a good word; I speak of my doings towards the king; "testifying, in truth, that the works of God are known to no other than to the Son alone, who is the Word of God, and who must reign for ever.

Psalms 60:0 To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.

Matthew 26:30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

You have my permission to do this ONCE A YEAR when you celebrate PASSOVER: no preaching, no instruments, no collection plates.

We DISCIPLES do not do legalistic end runs trying to JUSTIFY deliberately sowing discord, offending half of the "owners" for our own fun and profit: we put such people into prison, God puts the musician-sorcerers alive into the lake of fire.

WE don't use cunning craftsmanship to GET OUR WAY unless we have been strongly delusioned by God MARKED by violent performing religious rituals with the perfrorming arts CLAIMING that they come from God: we have shown that Christ in Jeremiah 23 calls that BLASPHEMY.
