I have a project going but no time. Rebuilt 289HD engine, all parts, cab and doors sanded and primed, six 17.5 budd wheels newly painted cherokee red, six new Coker tires, sandblasted frame. All of it in central Georgia. The VIN shows 53 transtar but believe body is a 49. My total investment is $4000. Will sell for same.

What is prefix on VIN/serial number? Model 2R-15? One-piece windshield or two?

FYI, first year of Transtar name was 1956.

Will get this to you today. The VIN plate was riveted to the bad body that is included. The good body has the smaller rear window. Have build sheet for VIN plate and colors don't match. The rebuild engine (have receipt) definitely has the 289HD cloverleaf. The grille appears to be transtar. I can send photos to your email. Mine is neely9463@gmail. com

E13 3885 shows as a 1961 model. Cab with small rear window would be 1949-54.

Summary: The truck chassis and drive train appears to be a 61 model, the body is 49-54. I have receipts for the engine rebuild about $2000, leaf springs about $1000, 6 of the 6-lug 17.5 Budd wheels, 6 brand new tires, new clutch and flywheel, way too much time and money invested. A steal at $4000.

The 2R15 is a 1949 1 Ton Stakebed with the Champion 6, Shifter on the floor, 2 piece windshield and I believe the rear window is shorter.
