I have a 59 Studebaker 3/4 ton 4x4 Factory original! Brakes bad So I sent in everything & got rebuilt! I'm having problem rear brake! I put all back on & everything looks perfect! I put drum back on & Scraping noise metal to metal Hmmmm! Can't see wher its hitting but drum scraping on inside right where drum steps up! Plus its all the way around not just one spot Hmmm I put grease on drum where scraping & top spring frt hitting drum where emerg brake arm has a bend & steps out there! I can push in on arm but sets back out? Only thing I dont remember been 2 months The u shaped clip that holds shoe to backing plate how does that set with e brake arm? Anyone ever had this problem any pics or diagrams availabe to show how it goes? Any help I thank you in advance! Tks Bill
Bill, I too own a 1959 3/4 ton 4x4. Mine is a 4E12D, and if I remember correctly, yours is a 4E11D. Either way, the brakes should be the same as mine. I have the DANA 60 rear end, which I believe you have as well unless someone has changed it. I am not sure I quite understand your problem, but here are the pictures that I took of mine when I put it together. I have not driven it yet, but there is definitely no rubbing or metal to metal sound.
I hope these help.
