Well, the Prime series has sadly ended, but Metroid lives on. And, now I ask you, what type of genre you would want for a DS Metroid sequel: A classic 2D Metroid, a 25.D Metroid or a 3D Metroid?

I would have a classic 2D Metroid. I want the Metroid series back to it's roots.

A 2.5D game (2D Fusion-style Samus in a 3D world) would be awesome for a Metroid TPD on the DS. It would be a little like the Castlevania DS games but... better! :D Not that I don't like the Castlevania DS games!

I'd like to see a 2D Metroid game like Super Metroid, but with 3D graphics. Also, another cool idea would be if we could touch and shoot with the stylus. Just a thought. ^_^

That would be a nice addition, DK3, as long as they keep normal button shooting too. Some touch games of old series got too gimicky from the old formula for me to enjoy much (Star Fox Command).

Here's my idea:

A 2D Metroid game with 2D graphics. This time, a new villian (or Ridley) is the main villian, and Samus adventures through the area to seek out the villian. Action would happen on the top-screen as the Touch Screen would be the Sub Screen. The map and Samus's weapons and suits would be on the Touch Screen. Touching some spots on the map would acess some Dark or Light places, and touching the weapon or suit you want Samus to equip would be selected by touching it. This time, Samus adventures on 7 areas, finding the main boss of it, and destroying it. Samus's ship is also controllable this time also. When Samus's ship is being controlled, you tap a planet on the touchscreen to go their. When select a planet, you travel to it while shooting emenies. When flying the ship, the route is on the topscreen as shooting emenies would use the stylus as the Control Pad moves the ship. Once the route is completed, you play as Samus.

Their would also be a Classic mode. You would adventure without the ship traveling, and the Light or Dark places would be gone, and defeating the planet's boss travels you to the next planet. If all of Samus's Energy is depleted, the game has to start over at a Save Point.

Wow, great idea that stays true to the original Metroid formula. However, I doubt Ridley will return unless this is another game set in Samus's past since Ridley was found dead in Metroid Fusion. However, I suppose there is a way to bring him back.

New idea sparked (thanks Jonno!)

Ridley would be brought back by a new villian who assists Ridley in his revenge against Samus. Only that the villian would betray Ridley....

Why not have Mother Brain as the main villian?

Mother Brain will make a suprise appearance, though...

You mean... her icy remains will be found in the dark depths of Tourian? I think that would be pretty cool, actually.

I really don't care. I've played Metroid Prime 2 and Super Metroid, and past the first boss. I'm not too thrilled by either.

Well, that leads me to another "game that I can't get into that everyone praises as if it were god".

I got into Super Metroid, which ended up being a pain later on. As for Prime, I don't like the series but think it's oddly organic sense of graphics style is rather amazing, though I don't care about the graphics of a game much either way. Ever see/play Bio-Hazard Battle? Yeah, like that, except 3-D.

I also just like the Metroid story in its entirety. It seems much more complex than the average Zelda, like that of a Fire Emblem game. So I don't neccesarily like the game play nearly as much as the writing.

I guess Metroid isn't the best Nintendo series ever, but it was Gunpei Yokoi's best work. Don't forget that man ;)

Of course I wouldn't forget him. If I ever find Fusion and/or Zero Mission I will give them a try since Super Metroid is a little out-dated and Prime is just not my style of gameplay.
