Joint EMS-GHMS jam/video-making session Sat. Nov 13th 9pm Eastern US

Joined: December 26th, 2008, 1:00 am

August 13th, 2010, 1:49 am #1

A joint meeting between EMS and GHMS so we can get some of our largest arrangements tested/made into videos.

Saturday, November 13 9:00 PM Eastern, Landroval, Addernotch neighborhood of Shire Homesteads, Stage by the water (usual rehearsal spot for GHMS)

Players need to come prepared to handle either multifiles or single files. By "multifile" I mean a single file that has all the different parts in it.

In addition, Esrah has asked if we can make videos of
B. They're taking the hobbits to Isengard (7 parts - Astleigh)
C. Meditation de Thais (7 parts - Keptwise)
D. Minas Morgul (8 parts ) Tiri
E. Minuano (9) Tiri
Those will be lower priority if we have video requests for larger arrangements and if we have enough players for larger arrangements.

I have a 12-part piece I don't need a video of but which I made just for the occasion of this meeting. We'll see if we have the numbers.

Great idea! With so much notice I will be able to attend if I get it on the calendar. Our groups have been dwindling this summer, perhaps in the fall we will be a much larger force once again.

I'd sure be there. I'd like to put some pieces together for this that I've done in the past where I've had to consolidate parts. I've always wondered what 12+ piece would sound like.

You know, some of us have been discovering orphaned musicians on other servers in our travels--people who can't find a band to join. I've found a couple on Brandywine.

Imagine that maybe twice a year or on some other regular basis, GHMS and EMS did a kind of roving recruiting deal, jointly. One joint meeting would be on Elendilmir, but another might be on Brandywine, another on Windfola, etc. Once we convinced people that they can create characters on other servers without much trouble or cost, we might swell our respective ranks that way.

I've taken an additional step: I already have characters created on all servers, Diamiond or Diamondcotton, so I have started leveling up on Windfola and then announcing in glff about EMS and GHMS looking for interested players to create a "music toon" on either Elendilmir or Landroval. One person suggested also making a post on the server forums. I had 3 people respond asking for information and sent them here. Some people couldn't understand why we just don't start a chapter on every server, but I said maybe if we find enough interested people from all the servers they will be inspired to create a chapter of a music society on their own server. It's a lot of work, yes, but it's also fun. A long-term goal, to be sure! ;)

I'll try to spend a little time each week on other servers doing this.

Based on the feedback I've gotten, I'll pick Saturday November 13th at 9 PM Eastern US Time. That should give
- Aussies like Esrah a fair chance to make it
- people like Aldekim who can't normally do Saturdays a chance to plan ahead to see if this one can be an exception
- people with main characters on other servers time to make a new character on Landroval if they don't have one yet.
Let's meet on Landroval's Addernotch Homestead of the Shire at the stage by the water, the usual meeting place of GHMS. If any videos call for special settings, we can travel from there.
I'll go make a Calendar entry on this site now.

I'd like to see anyone who plans to come post in this thread after this post, please, so I can get an idea of how many we might have. If it's fewer than 9, we could still meet to make videos of smaller arrangements, we'd just make it shorter.
