Monday Coed Managers,

Opening Day for the Monday Coed fall season is slated for September 25th. In order to complete the fall season before our lease runs out, we are going to run a 7-game schedule. One of those 7 weeks will be on a Saturday. League fees will be discounted to $65.00. Anyone paying online can use the ‘Other Payment’ box for league fee amount. Any regular season postponement will be rescheduled for the first available Saturday. The 2/3 finals are slated for Nov. 13th.

Anyone that already paid $75.00 will be issued a $10.00 refund.

I hope you understand.

Les

The official Monday Evening Coed schedule for the Fall 2017 season is now posted. Access the schedule from the main Softball America webpage, call the game line (215-822-8777, option 3), or click here... Monday Evening Coed

Because of the 13-team line-up, a 3-conference league was not possible. We will be playing the fall season with 2 Conferences (American and National). With an odd number of teams (13) and an odd number of games (7), it is impossible to have every team play 7 games. In order to get all the teams to play 7 games, one of the teams must play an 8th game. That honor was given to the Summer season champs, Andy's Snack Bar. Andy's will play an 8-game season. The balance of the league will play a 7-game season. There will be no charge for the 8th game. There is no other way. Well, at least I couldn't find one.

Les - What happens when you have players who play the 9:30 game at Hatfield on that Wednesday night? Can't be in 2 places at once.

That does pose a bit of a problem.

Team #4 (Doom Cats) has dropped out of the league at the last minute. As a result, there will be no Saturday games. A revised schedule will be posted shortly.

For the first time in league history there is a deadlock for the final Monday Coed National Conference playoff spot. Both Blue Dog Tavern and Roos finished the season at 2-5. There was no head to head play and each team gave up exactly 100 seasonal runs. Per league rules, ‘if the listed tiebreakers fail to produce clear results, a coin toss or reasonable facsimile will take place’.

We will use the same lottery used for 1-pitch tournament team seeding to determine which team gets the 5th and final playoff spot. Here’s how it works:

Each manager sends me a 3-digit number. Once I receive both numbers I will post them on the message board under Monday Coed. Using the last 3 digits of the official attendance of tonight's Game 7 of the World Series and comparing that to each manager's 3-digit number, the team with the 3-digit number that is closest to the last 3 digits of the game's attendance (plus/minus) will move to the playoffs. Much like a clock where 12 is closer to 1 than 4, 999 moves to 000. In other words, 999 is only 1 digit away from 000 while 111 is one hundred and eleven away from 000.

It was brought to my attention the Roos had a forfeit loss (0-7) on October 16th against the Sharks.

Below is the league rule with respect to forfeits, runs against, and tie-breaks.

The runs-against total for teams involved in forfeits is to be adjusted upward to compensate for the automatic 7-0 score awarded to forfeited games. League statisticians will take the average of all non-forfeited games and assign that average to each forfeited game. As an example; a 5-3 team has a runs-against total of 60. In 2 of their games they were involved in a forfeit. The runs-against total of 60 is to be divided by the 6 non-forfeited games for an actual average of 10 runs-against per game. The average of 10 runs-against per game is assigned to each forfeited game and the adjusted runs-against total shall become 80.

This would give the edge to Blue Dog Tavern (seasonal runs against = 100).  Over the 6 games that they played, the Roos surrendered 93 runs, so RA/G = 93 / 6 = 15.5 times 7 games = 108.5 adjusted seasonal runs against.

No need for a lottery tie-breaker. Blue Dog Tavern is the 5th and final Monday Coed National post season team.

Sorry for the confusion.
