Additional effects of shots after being reflected upward

Bomb: Blast radius will double. If it hits target in the air the blast radius will "extend" downwards.

Freeze Shot: Freezes target for a longer duration. When players crash into target the ice will not break

Slap Stick: When comes in contact with player (unavoidable except via jumping) the target is knocked down and loses up to six coins.

Whirlwind: After it hits target, the whirlwind will stay in place and grow for 3 seconds. Both items will be lost apon impact.

Parachute: Target will be in mid air for a longer duration and will be sent backwards while flying.

Snowman: Once it hits the ground it splits into eight pieces and travel in seperate directions, they can stay on the field longer than regular snowmen.

When going back to Linda's home stage, in Expert Mode, another cutscene takes place unlike the regular one and you will have to face Brad. A different musical score will be played when going against him. The player must beat him in a race (along with the other two computers) in order to unlock him.

            Gameplay:

All the previous items and shots in Snowboard kids 1 and 2 will be used.
            SKB 1 Trick System
            Slower Spins
Signature Tricks (now more complicated tricks feature the grab commands too)
The ability to hold the grab button.

The shot reflecting element would be present but I'd like to add a little more detail.

            Shot Reflection

Depending on what board trick you perform, it will influence the direction the shot travels when it is reflected.

Back: Straight Back to the sender
Left or Right: Will be sent in the respective directions until they home into another person or hit a wall.
Up The shot will be launched straight in the air. If timed correctly it will land on the ground after 1-3 seconds rather than on the person's head. If the shot doesn't hit anyone upon landing, it will continue to travel forward. Shots reflected this way will have added effects. For example, if a bomb lands on the ground it will explode and have twice the blast radius, if the person is hit in mid air the blast radius is also "extended" downwards. If it’s a freeze shot, the ice won't break if another player crashes into it.
The steeper the angle the board is during the grab on impact, the higher (and less horizontally farther) the shot will travel. Therefore the higher the chances the player's counter won't backfire (ie land on their head or follow them)

This is the list of additional effects shots will have after becoming refected upwards.

            Tricks (Spins and Flips)

Manual Mode (Wii-Mote + Nunchuk and Classic Controller)

This is the mode used in previous titles. One can hold the A button, tilt the stick in a direction and release the A button. This can spawn many combinations.

Tilt Mode (Wii Mote + Nunhuk)

This type of control take advantage of the Wii's motion sensing capabilities. Don't worry, if you still don't get the hang of this method the manual mode is available too.

Hold the A button on the Wii Mote
Use your wrist to tilt the Wii-Mote left, right, up, down or diagonally. As long the A button is still held, you can continue to do tricks.

            Extras

            Alternate Costumes

Each character will have a brand new costume and a palette swap of it. There will be at least 7 Costumes for each character. They include Costumes from past games and maybe even some other ideas for the "unlockable" one. If the character was not present in that game, they can be reimagined and have an "appropriate" costume.

            Default Costume (SBK3)
            Palette Swap Costume (SBK 3)
            Original Costume (First Game)
            Alternate Costume (SBK+)
            Default Costume (SBK2)
            Default Costume (SBK DS)
            Random/Cosplay

heres a potential plot, for an upcoming game...

One year has passed and the snowboarding fad finally blew over. Nowadays the gang just have some casual races together. That all changes when a new kid comes to town.

The new kid could refer to an in game character or custom character, this is all I have for now so I'll post some other stuff later.

I'm not sure where else to put this but this seems like a good question for everyone.

Does anyone think that SBK is going to have a 10th anneversary game from an SBK2 standpoint because December 17, 2007 passed like a few months ago :damienunhappy:

                  oh yeah and

If there is going to be another one, do you think the former voice actors/actresses will reprise their roles for the game?

World Tour Mode: Create your own character using different clothes and accessories, then go around 20 different locations competing in races. You can also find other characters, they will give you tasks to complete on the courses. If successful, you will earn rewards, such as more parts for your custom character, outfits, boards and secret stuff!
Hey Nicole, can I add some ideas to supplement the ones you already have?

                    Character Customization

                    Obvious stuff to customize
                    Includes a chance to customize
                    - gender (duh!)
                    - hairstyle
                    - eye colour
                    - nose type (pointy or rounded)
                    - skin tone
                    - height and "width"

As for clothes a person can customize the primary, secondary and tertiary colours to make it unique. Of course you can create multiple costumes for one character. While completing certain conditions in the game you can even unlock clothing that the cast uses and be able to customize those too!

                        Sep 08, 2011#36

After getting a 3DS for my birthday last month, I've started to think about an SBK game that could be released on the 3DS.

                        Snowboard Kids 3DS

(It would be the third game in the series chronogically, picking where SBK2 left off, plus it's for the 3DS, hence the appropriate name. :pameladitzy: )

                        Platform

                        Nintendo 3DS (Duh...)

                        Controls

Turn: Analog Pad - For normal turns, push the analog pad left or right, and for sharp turns, push the analog pad down-left or down-right.

Jump: B Button - Tap the B Button to do a small hop, or hold down and release the B Button to jump higher.

                        Use a Shot: A Button

                        Use an Item: Y Button

                        Use Character-Unique Shot/Item: X Button

                        Look Behind: R Button

                        Tricks

Spins: Hold down B, push the analog pad left or right, and release B.

Flips: Hold down B, push the analog pad up or down, and release B.

Misty and Rodeo Flips: Hold down B, push the analog pad up-left or up-right for a Misty flip, or down-left or down-right for a Rodeo flip.

Board Grabs: D-Pad - Hold down B, release B, and press Up for a Nosegrab, Down for a Tailgrab, Left for a Method grab or Right for an Indy grab.

                        Advanced Techniques

Accelerate: After either landing a big jump, or getting up from a fall, hold the analog pad forward and tap the B button to speed up.

Deflecting Shots: When a shot is homing in on you, jump up and perform a board grab. If timed right, you will deflect the shot back at the shooter.

NOTE: Some shots have special properties and CANNOT be deflected.

Special Deflect: You can also deflect incoming shots with a spin. This is a bit more difficult to pull off due to spins requiring more airtime than grabs. What makes this different from normal Deflecting, is that the properties of the shot will change when it is Special Deflected. More details in the Shots section.

NOTE: Character-Unique Shots will not have different properties when they are Special Deflected.

Continuous Spins and Flips: When performing a spin or flip, start tapping the B button and hold the analog pad in a direction. Your character will then spin or flip in that direction after performing the first trick.

Special Tricks: Each character has their own set of special tricks, which require a special input while holding down the B button. More details in the Characters section.

                        Shots

                        Slapstick

                        Speed: Fast
                        Accuracy: Strong
Effect: Knocks the opponent down, sending them tumbling forward and dropping 3 coins.
Special Deflect Effect: The Slapstick becomes faster and will knock the opponent down, sending them tumbling backward and dropping 6 coins.

                        Bomb

                        Speed: Normal
                        Accuracy: Weak
Effect: The bomb explodes after coming into contact with either an opponent, wall or obstacle, sending anyone caught in the blast radius up into the air for 3 seconds. Bombs can also be thrown backwards.
Special Deflect Effect: The blast radius is larger and will keep opponents in the air for 5 seconds.

                        Freeze Shot

                        Speed: Normal
                        Accuracy: Normal
Effect: The freeze shot will trap the opponent in a block of ice for 4 seconds. If another player crashes into the block of ice, it will shatter.
Special Deflect Effect: The freeze shot will trap the opponent in a larger block of ice and will trap them for 6 seconds. The block of ice is also unbreakable.

                        Parachute

                        Speed: Normal
                        Accuracy: Strong
Effect: The parachute will send the opponent into the air, where it will open up and the opponent will drift back to the ground slowly.

Even though I'd much prefer to have a new SBK game to be released on a home console, I guess having it released on the 3DS sounds like much more probable idea.

Still, this idea got me psyched for it.

Not quite. Swap 1 for Plus and give it the option of using the balance board. Then we're really talking!

                            EDIT: 3D sounds fun...

I think that ideal game would be mix of SBK 1 and 2.

SBK's 1 trick system and like SBK 2's system for everything else.

Would be nice to see all items get in and maybe like some fire shot item that causes people to go in like burning animation and unlike ice counterpart , running into enemy in state will spread it to others. (Would be real chaotic to take people down and share your faith)

Trick animations have so much to be improved with current technology in hands of person with visions on what each character can do.Ninja characters would be hype as heck with some magical arts oozing from their tricks.

All the characters can return and doesn't really matter if some stats are shared as other qualities can balance them out like some characters can have like unique boards or aren't able to use certain ones.

For plot , at least for Shinobin and Kaede to return , is that Koyuki and some other ninja makes way to tournament and has affiliation to some rival clan. And wanting to be in tournament could be way for them to prove their superiority for themselves.I know it's cheesy but its better than Koyuki's western plot with the satellite. Shinobin and Kaede could totally become regulars and want to beat this "other ninja" but in canon plot , Slash is the one actually beats them in the end.

And for general plot , the characters could be at least about year older from SBK2 with some being in next age and some remaining behind in age as they all can't have same birthdays.

Brad could be like character that ticks off Linda to throw the tournament and if they wanted to throw in antagonist like Damien then they can place that in naturally.

SBK was never about being serious really , so plot can really be played around with.

I like some of these ideas!

I'm definitely on board with you in regards to the trick system being more like SBK1, maybe even have it where it would be a hybrid of the two so that specific trick patterns allowed unique tricks, adding an extra bonus of money or a multiplier to the cash you get?

Also agreed that tricks can be improved now with current technology, there's been a lot since the N64 days, and seeing tricks souped up a bit to be spectacular would definitely give players more of a sense of accomplishment in actually pulling one of them off.

I don't really have anything against the return of all the characters, however I do think the overhaul that was done on Nancy and Tommy was a bit drastic from their original personalities.

As far as the plot being serious, of course it's not supposed to be serious. It's a bunch of kids (and ninjas) hitting the slopes and having fun and competing against each other. It's all supposed to be in good fun.

Either way it would be like budget title and being able to play with friends is nice.Expecting them to have game and 3ds , would be not bringing folks together like the old days.

Plus SBK deserves the 1080p and 60 fps quality that the Internet seems to gloss over.

Personally for me the ideal SBK would be a game built off the first N64 title (Plus and 2 are quite slow in comparison :jamsilly: ) with a few elements from future installments. The courses would be rehashes and improvements over the original SBK1/+ tracks, and new SBK1-styled (I.e. Gimmick-less) tracks modeled after themes from SBK2 and a few from DS (Like a track where you're snowboarding down a huge city and on rooftops). There'd also be a few other misc. ideas'd have in store.

In total there would be around 25 race courses, plus a few extras for Trick modes.

Characters would include everyone from the first, Plus, second, and DS titles... Except Koyuki. :koyukipanic: I just don't really see her as being that important to the roster compared to guys like Nicole and Wendy.

In total, 10 defaults and 7 unlockables.

Stats would be far more balanced than core games in the series, with three Freestyle board options, one All around board, and three Alpine boards. Balance wouldn't alter the stats of the character riding it (Speed, Jump, Corner, Trick, and Weight), Freestyle would add onto Jump, Corner, and Trick but subtract from Speed and Weight, while Alpine does the reverse. The higher the board's level, the more extreme the stat changes. Therefore you could give a guy like Tommy a Freestyle Level 3 and he'd have stats like Linda, or buff Nancy's speed/weight so they'd match Jam's. :nancycrosseye:
This new system would also nerf the secret characters like Damien, Coach, and Jack Frost so they have stats comparable to the main cast. :sinobinnormal: The two unlockable ninjas would still get to use their funky Japanese boards in place of the normal boards everyone else uses.

The items are replicas of what's in SBK2, but there are extra shots based around DS' character shots, such as the Color Beam, Fire Shot, and Lightning Strike.
