So here's a little story to keep us from thinking about whys and whats related to the green squarishness Snow Town is going through.
Or maybe it is related to this mess? Hmm...
This story is called 'The tale of progress', some call it 'Tale of Advancement' too, but that just sounds stupid, no?
Anyway,
Tis the tale of a young boy known as Slash.
This boy has a rival, which we'll call Linda, because that's her name.
Linda is rich, very rich. And she's the best snowboarder of Snow Town.
Slash thinks: If a snooty rich girl is so good at it, it can't be that hard right?
So Slash decided he'd be the best snowboarder they've ever seen, to
humilite that obnoxious Linda.
On to Mr Dog's Slash goes, and he settles for that cool looking All-rounder board.
It's got style and flames painted on it, so it has to be the best board there is,
nothing like those awkward looking Star boards.
Rookie Mountain is Slash's first slope,
he figures Big Snowman looks cooler, but he'd need to get the hang of his board
before tackling it.
He straps on his board, it's a perfect match!
And off he goes... till he topples down like a true newbie.
What an embarassing start...
But Slash is determined to wipe that smile off the rich girl's face!
So he hops back up and tries again. And fails again.
But after so many falls, he's actually getting better.
Until finally he gets the hang of it, and stops falling.
He's made it! He's sliding down that slope faster and faster!
He's cruising down at a speed he'd never been before.
And Slash thought: Just as expected, mastering snowboard is a piece of cake!
And that's when a new unexpected foe appear!
Ahead of him, Slash sees it coming at an alarming speed: the wall!
Regretting his new found high speed, Slash asks the fatal question:
How do I turn this stupid thing?!
It was then that it hit him.
Unfortunately, not the answer, but the wall.
His mighty first try at boarding ends with a crash.
Nice try, Slash.
And that wraps up the first part of this epic tale of trials and failures. Hopefully, it'll get better for Slash soon.
Oh, but he can slide down that slope like a real pro... Too bad he can't turn yet. Working on it next!
: So that's it, I hit a wall, end of the line?
Actually you don't. Yet. You go right through. Working on that too!

And onto a bit more story telling shall we?
We left our good friend Slash smashing into a wall,
failing to figure how to turn before it was too late.
Stupid board, he thought, it was obviously a material defect.
After all, how could he fail at such an easy task as snowboarding?
But just as he was about to give up, he remembered why he tried it to start with.
He swore he could already hear Linda mocking him in his head.
Poor little Slash can't deal with Rookie Mountain?!
Furious, Slash picked up his board, determined to do better!
After many tries and many failures, he finally started getting the hang of it.
Slowly, but surely, he was moving sideways!
And in an epic instant of awesomeness, he cleared that curve, sparing the wall.
Sliding left and right: check. He'd mastered it all!
He did realise though that turning too much reduced his awesome top speed.
He'd have to be careful about that when he'd battle his annoying rival.
But losing speed like this gave him a new idea.
He'd use the same kind of technique if he'd ever need to break.
So having beaten the curve and invented a whole new move,
Slash decided that would be more than enough for a single day.
He headed home, boasting about his glorious success.
Little did he know that his hardships were only starting...
And that's all you'll be getting for today, dear forum members.
Put simply, this means I'm done with the cornering code, works as expected. Oh and you can break when holding back direction, it's a lot more effective if you're turning too, bit like in the classic games.
Oh, and double posting is evil too, but I wasn't sure editing a message would report an updated topic status (does it? I'm curious now)
So you better be posting here, to prevent more evil from appearing!
You can even go ahead and ask questions and stuff! I'll do my best to answer them, promised!

As far as I know, editing a post doesn't bump up the topic, so I guess this is fine.
This sounds really cool. I can't wait to see actual gameplay.

I'll try and get something playable soon then.
Not a full race, but just a little prototype to try out the controls is okay for you, or would you rather just wait and get the full thing once it's all finished?

And we're back... again! Are you ready for more?!
In a few days' work, Slash had become a master,
or at least so he thought.
Not only could he handle any curve of the track,
he'd also learned to brake and even jump.
Those pesky little rocks that sometimes littered the track
and used to often get in his way during practise
were no more than an excuse to show off his fancy jumping.
Just a little hop and good bye the rock!
![]()
Hopping over rocks is pretty easy. Beating Linda on a straight line isn't.
Finally ready to humiliate Linda, he challenged her to a race.
Boasting to be the best, Slash launched himself forward at high speed!
He easily got a head start over the rich girl, thinking he'd already won.
But shortly after, she easily slid past him laughing.
'You're so slow Slash. Is that really all you can do?'
she said, while comforting her lead.
How could this be, wondered Slash. Her speed was greater than his!
How could he stand a chance if she went faster than him all the time?!
The race ended in a humiliating defeat for Slash.
He'd never managed to catch up, despite trying his hardest to go faster.
What kind of demon could this girl be?!
Slash was forced to leave the scene under a hail of taunting from his rival.
It looked like he would have to resort to drastic measures to win...
He would have... to study.
And what he discovered was incredible!
So many little details to take into account...
![]()
Slash in numbers isn't very impressive...
So he did what he thought anyone should do in such circumstances:
He gladly abandoned studying. Who needs all those silly numbers?
He'd win against Linda, someday, somehow.
And more determined than ever, he returned to training on the slopes.

Hey, I'll have you know I am NOT a demon! *Shakes fist*
But otherwise, not bad at all, hope to see more soon.
