Story
Chapter 1
This wasn't my spot, I didn't really have a spot. It was my friends spot. I can't say that I don't know why I am here, I do. It is just I am usually here because he needs to talk. This is the spot he goes to when he needs someone to listen, I'm the only one who knows about this place though. I sit down on the ledge, not a veary big ledge. just long enough for two people and only about two feet high. There are trees on three side, none behind me where I came in through and old, bearly there path. My snowboard is leaning against a tree behind me. You have to walk the path, but my board goes with me everywhere.
I hear him walk up behind me.
"Hey, Jam" he says quietly.
"Hey," I reply just as quiet.
I hear him set his own board aginst a tree, and feel him sit beside me.
"How's things?" he asks, looking straight a head.
"Ok," I look down at my hands. Silence fills the air around us. Not even birds are making noise.
"Gonna snow." he says, breaking the silence.
"Yeah," I say looking up at the sky. Not even a patch of blue can be seen. Silence agian. This is always how it goes, untill he gets the courage to say what is bothering him. Today thats my job.
"You see the car Linda go for her 16th birthday?" he askes, Linda is the first of our group to turn 16, I'm next.
"Yeah, it's cool," I say. Another silence, not an uncomfortable one, they never are. I knock some snow of the ledge and watch the pattern it makes in the snow below. I take a deep breath, the cool winter air calms me some.
"I think I might be gay," I say casually. He is silent.
"must be tough," he says finaly. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. I look at him for the fist time since he got here, he stairs back at me. A few seconds of that and he pulls me into a hug. I burry my face in his shoulder and cry. All the stress that has built up in me is release in that one action.
The tears feel odd to me, I don't cry very often. Not like him, dispite popular beliefe I have seen him cry quite a few times. When I pull back I feel a lot better.
"Bet I can beat you to the bottom," I say, jumping up and grabing my board. He does the same.
"Bet you can't," he replies.
Despite my head start he does beat me. At the bottom, we both stop to catch our breath. I look at him and for the first time I feel more like myself than I have in a while. I know now that I don't have to hide from him, like I do my parents.
"I gotta get home for dinner," he says standing up. As he walk away there is only one thing I can think of to say.
"Thanks Slash," He stops and smile at me befor heading home.
