I've recently managed to get my hands on a good-as-new copy of SBK2 about a week ago, and while in general I can win most races well with good enough skill and a bit of luck in one go, (I won the Linda's Castle one by a inch with a fan I got on 2nd place and just made the finish passing the 1st racer by a second.) I have come to the point in the game where it would have gotten slightly frustrating on my part, the Ice Land race where you face off with Damien. All the other later courses aren't really so tough for me to beat like Crazy Jungle and Haunted House, but Ice Land in paticularly took me over 15 attempts (no joke) to defeat, but not because Damien is the only AI character who seems to be on Expert as he can deflect shots at every opportunity possible, (On the actual expert mode I think all the other opponents are like this as well) but because of the track having so many sharp turns, (and some of them having cliffs like the small alcove with the bone structure hanging above you) that whenever the AI gets a shot at you, and you're in one of those turns, prepare to lose a good deal of speed anyway even if you can avoid it. But the worst part for me is that this track seems to have many sections with little ground going downward, so when you get hit, it takes a good time to build up speed again on there, which irritates me even more as I think the AI has a much faster acceleration buildup than human players have, especially at the start it each race it shows this.

After many attempts I did manage to win using Linda on a level 3 Trick Board, (Unless I'm worng, I think this was the best mix between speed and good cornering), and I was very much relieved. I even consider the BK mecha boss much less frustrating than this because true, it does have it's own annoying problems with the debris and the assaulting, but at least that part only focusses on you having to knock the thing out and it moves in a set pattern across the course where I can with some good timing score about 4 to 5 hits right at the start with the bombs you get with the first slope and time your shots. But that takes at best only one lap to beat, whereas the Ice Land race is just a whole 3-lap and roughly 6-minute ordeal of having to deal with annoying AI.

And yes, I do know about the uphill shortcut past the snowball rolling section, and I attempt that every time as well to cut off some time.

My apologies if my little rant there is kinda too much, but words could not express my dislike for that part, and I wonder if there is some helpful tips people could give me in order to give me a better time with this course and the AI on Expert mode in general, and I would appreciate it very much.

A good tactic may be not to worry about staying in 1st most of the race, if you've played SBK1 and had to race Shinobin, you should know by now that staying in front for the race usually results in a loss towards the end. Plus, staying a little further back and corralling everyone close, then falling back to 4th, getting a pan and flattening everyone is effective too.

In the case of Damien, if you're having trouble hitting him altogether, try doing a follow-up shot whenever he attempts to block, at least one of them will hit, or sometimes I've even seen the AI screw up a block and fall anyway, which usually results in them getting hit afterwards too.

      Have fun!

Ah, thanks for the tips, Linda. But I've been victorious over most of the Expert mode races so far, except for Haunted House, (Grr, curse you and that Charming Board, Jam!) and been using that trick of timing shots that the AI can't block the next hit, and I've learned that it's not required to beat the races that have bosses afterwards, I can skip straight to the boss if I want said board, but I still managed to defeat Expert mode Ice Land nevertheless with a level 3 Balance Board using Nancy. Though when the AI goes jumping and attempting to block, they will mess up their trajectory and at cliff sections will fall off.

If you do have the lead, keep an invisibility if at all possible. It either denies last minute charges to the line, even if your ghosted they still have to pass you, and you can counter attack them with no risk of being hit yourself, or allows you to extend your lead if someone else pans.

Also rocks ontop of the shops and just after the lift is an incredibly annoying tactic to use as well, and it works wonders on humans as well, who eventually become so paranoid they jump at every item box, which causes them to fall over the rock placed just after it :P.
