SBK Virtual Console Petition

SBK Virtual Console Petition

I was looking around Gamespot earlier today and came across this little petition someone made in the forums:

    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/SnowboardKidsVC?e

It appears to be a support topic for Nintendo to start bringing the Snowboard Kids games to the Virtual Console for the Wii. As much as I would love to see the games available for use on the Wii, I find it kind of doubtful because they would of course need to get the all-clear from Atlus, and Atlus has made it clear that they have little to no intention of letting their games be re-published for use on the Virtual Console as they would not be paid for the sales.

I did however believe that the petition was a good idea to at least try to bring the fandom of SBK to light, and perhaps if enough people join in on the idea and an email was sent to Atlus demonstrating the desire for the game to still be rather high, they may reconsider.

I have already signed the petition myself, I encourage everyone else to do the same.

EDIT: I accidentally signed myself in twice, I didn't want to get any spam from this site!

Maybe the next time someone posts up an SBK video they can also attach the link to the petition.

I don't think that we will ever see either the first or second SBK games on VC. For a few clear reasons.

To begin with, third-party N64 games are pretty rare in comparison to first-party games on the same console- well okay, it's rare to even see Nintendo update their catalogue with one N64 game. And I think I know why. :wendyidea:

The great majority of third party N64 games, which Snowboard Kids just so happens to be a part of, all require the use of the standard N64 Controller Pack in order to save data, which unfortunately Virtual Console does not support. Not even the Gamcube Memory cards or a SD card will work. So if we ever did get the first SBK onto VC, we wouldn't be able to save data. We'd have to lave our Wii on or use the infamous "unlock all" cheat to keep everything we unlock there. This however, is not the case with Snowboard Kids 2, which instead used your average battery backup to save data.

What we need, is a brand new entry in the series by the ones responsible for the original N64 titles. There is actually another game called Snowboard Riot by Hudson Soft for the WiiWare, but from what I've heard, it's a terrible, shameless ripoff of SBK. It uses a similar format to the SBK series in general, but I'm not going to even bother with it.
