Try skateboards Gecko :). I'd have summer and winter courses and a few methods of racing for each ;).

Also a wiiware game involved snowboarding and items was apparently released, I haven't seen it yet though.
A wiiware game that involves snowboards and items? Ill try to check that out when I have the chance
Finally got a copy of SBK1 after first renting it ages ago.

Just lurking around here and I have to say, like everyone, I'm really disappointed that when the series finally had some life put back into it that it was just an utter failure =/

And I don't know if I'd make a game of this kind with skateboards. For some reason I just don't find them very exciting at all, especially in a SBK-esque race. Rollerblades would be pretty awesome but I haven't seen anyone using 'em since..well, since SBK1 ;p

Also reading around and seeing RedZ's idea, that sounds pretty awesome, I hope we can see some of it in the future~

Yeah rollerblades were the alternative, but they did fall out style didn't they, hence why skateboards were the main :). They could work if it were an original concept and implemented well.

Well, lack of snow hasn't stopped the game, now has it?

And there is such a thing called wake boarding that would probably be a reasonable alternative as well. Would be kinda neat seeing something that worked both sports into some sort of exciting combination!

Yeah but this was for a new game, not a new SBK. If we aren't going to get a new SBK in the style we liked, I figured making a new varient of it. New characters/items/story everything, but with similar concepts and it might start by being equally summer/winter focused unlike SBK.

It's not like SBK is a truly original idea anyway, given its a perfected version, but Mario kart is the base of it whether we like it or not.

All the talk actually reminds me of an idea I had for courses with different types of terrain they could use different types of boards (skateboards, sandboards, wakeboards etc.).

It would be pretty cool if you could have choices, but I feel if a publisher were to come out with one, it would have places feeling quite unfinished most likely. It would really take a lot to pull off a -good- game like this.

Wake boards sound really fun, but they feel a little limited no? And of course you'd have to add ice skates to the mix, winter sports +1

I'm not even a big sports fan =P But roller blades. Ha, I could keep using 'em for years. Ice skates too >_> I still can't turn very well though

What kind of tracks were you thinking of?
