Heya everyone. It's certainly been a while, hasn't it?

Haven't really touched or thought about the series for a while, though no matter what happens I'll still be a fan of "10-year olds boarding down courses that no one would ever snowboard down IRL", and it's one of the few games I love to do multiplayer in (especially the first so I can spend several minutes trying to explain the trick system and watch as they get "not enough'd" by Mr. Dog).

Here's my collection of SBK stuff; I'm sure I showed off Plus one other time years ago by itself but I figured I'd take a new pic with the other three. Should've included the manual for the first game since I still have that lying around.

I should really find some way to get Plus running on an american PS1 someday, because region lockout is total crud. :tommymoody:

Dunno how long I'll stick around this forum this time, but it's always fun chatting with you guys.

      Welcome back!

I used to play SBKPlus on my PS2 using the Swap Magic thing, but I stopped because I was worried having to swap discs would damage my console since I have to stop the disc from spinning, then swap it for the game I wanted to play.

The other option would be to modchip it, but I don't know anyone who can do this without it costing a ridiculous price.

I probably just might stick to importing a Japanese PS1 in the future, cause I have another Japanese-only PS1 title (Salaryman Champ) that I'd be up for playing someday.

Hey there, good to see you all still poking around here.

I'll admit, I've been rather busy with personal life lately that I haven't been around as much as I probably should, but I suppose that happens when you're pushing on about a generation after the game's initial release!

Good to hear from you all though, hope you're all still having fun and hanging in there.

I started coming to these forums back when I was in college, now I'm back in college. How times change!

I resorted to using either a gameshark or a goldfinger to run SBK+ on an old PS1. Worked pretty well. Not sure how common or cheap it would be to find those now, because they were scarce about 8 years ago.
I met a man once with a dirty hardhat, a pickaxe and a bucket full of coal. He also had overalls and a plaid shirt, a scruffy beard and thick steel toe boots.

But those are just miner details.

Hey GraalofIce, it certainly has been awhile, I have been long gone from the forums as well, but lately I've gotten back into SBK again, and I'm pleasantly surprised this forum is still up and running.

How have people been holding up here, actually? Myself I've been busy with work lately, working at a restaurant.

Wow I remember my old Gold Finger cart! I still use it, this one in particular, to specifically play imports on my PlayStation.

I'd imagine older retro stores will still sell them, but it's hard to find one depending on where you live. If all else fails, there's eBay, but they are indeed scarce.

I have been doing well also. I am currently living overseas and I finally was able to get purchase a copy of Snowboard Kids Plus from TSUTAYA, a used gaming store at Japan, for $25.00 USD. It's been a long time coming.

Nice going! Do you actually live in Japan right now, or did you manage to get it shipped over to where you currently live?

That reminds me back when I tried to hunt down the rare PAL version of SBK2 on ebay back in like 2011. I was incredibly lucky to find one for like a reasonable price of 30.00$ from what I recall from someone in Australia, which was the only country to even receive a PAL-converted version of the game, which might surpass Plus in how rare it is get nowadays.

Pretty weird how I own a very rare N64 game in PAL format which wasn't even released in Europe, strangely.

Do you also have a modified PS1 to play Plus on, Enigma?

Hey everyone, it's been a while.

There's a copy of SBK Plus on EBay going for $41 USD, I'm sure if it's worth buying however. I already have an ISO of the game so it's not like I haven't played the game before, along with the that I don't have any way of playing it on a console. I have Swap Magic for PS2, but if I remember correctly it doesn't work with PS1 games.

I have SBK Plus, Swap Magic and a PS2, and yes, it does work with SBK Plus. As long as you put in a PS1 US game, then swap it after the Playstation logo appears, it should work.

And considering I spent like 100$ CAD for that game back then (It was around 80-90$ USD back then), 41$ USD for SBK Plus is a pretty good deal. :nicolegreedy:

I decided to get a copy after all! Considering how rare the game is, it really was a great deal. The quality is unreal! It was in near perfect condition, it has the case, manual and the little fold out with all the special tricks. Turns out I still had an old BreakerPro mod disc which is used for PS1 imports instead of Swap Magic and and I can actually play it on my PS2! Never thought I'd live to see the day of that happening. Unfortunately it looks pretty bad, since I only have an HD TV and old consoles never look that good on them. But at least I can finally say I am a proud owner of Snobow Kids Plus, over a decade later from learning of the game's existence and searching high and low for a ROM of it (it's easy to find now but back then it wasn't since barely anyone outside of Japan owned the game)! And now I officially own all of the SBK games! It was a great purchase.

And thus, another SBK enthusiast gets their hands on the rarest game in the series. Congrats!
