To mute the music during the race remove the disk and then when you finished the race put again the disk.
Now why would I want to do that?

I did that, but i went to my sound option on my epsxe menu and disabled the XA music. after that, I started playing SBK+ with my music. awesome! if you want an example of this see one of my SBK+ that I posted up in my account.
