I chose "I choose the right character for the right job" because I'll usually want to do well in each event.

I always use my favourite character

Slash is my favorite character in the series, I've been using him since the beginning. But variety is good too, sometimes I pick random characters.

I tend to vary, I usually love to play my favorite character, but when I'm looking for a challenge, I tend to try a character I am bad with so that I can learn how they work, which also helps me in multiplayer so that I can understand how people control the characters. It gives me a distinct advantage.

I always use my favorite character ( ) because if you're used to the game's controls, you can have almost no trouble on any courses (Though you might want to use the Freestyle Board for Dizzy Land or Quicksand Valley), so at this point it mostly comes down to the player's preference.

The only time I'd use a character who would fit for the stage is when doing the Trick/Shot games, in which the turning abilities and tricks are more important than speed.
