So i just picked up this game called Happy! Happy!! Boarders for the PS2, and was I surprised at how obscure this game was. It took me forever to find a copy of it and theres barely any info on it online. As a huge fan of SBK, i figured "Another snowboarding game by Atlus and Racjin? I have to try it".
The game is a strange but effective blend of snowboarding, anime, and dating sim. Although i cant read japanese, im able to get through the menus without too many issues. Now following the story is a whole other problem. Thankfully i can just use my Google Translate app to get a jist of whats going on and what to do next.
It may not be the best looking ps2 game or the fastest paced snowboarding game. Hell, its not even multiplayer (at least to my knowledge). But its a unique concept that somehow has pulled me in and i cant stop playing it. I definitely recommend it to people who like snowboarding games or ski resort simulators. The game has a really cool way of making you feel as though you're actually at the Beautiful Rujutsu resort in Hokkaido, Japan. If you want to see some gameplay, theres 1 video on youtube, i believe, but it might not be the best representative of the game. You have to try it for yourself to truly know.
One thing the game definitely has going for it is the soundtrack. The music is very fitting and it invokes lots of 90s nostalgia. SBK fans will be happy to know that Isao Kasai and Tomohiko Sato are back and you can really tell. Unfortunately you cant find any of the tracks online. Luckily for you all I just ripped the audio off my game disc and i hope to upload the soundtrack to youtube soon.
So please if youve never heard of this game, really like snowboard kids or snowboard games in general, or love the music of SBK then check out Happy Happy Boarders for the PS2. I promise its at least worth a try and some of you might be really happy about finding this.
Now if only we could get this and SBK plus translated....

PS: you will need a way to play imported Ps2 games
