Forum Rules: (Updated 2/27/14)

As of late it appears there have been some issues on actually knowing forum rules. While I am not one to jump on everyone and start handing out warnings left and right for such, I believe an updated rules list is necessary to keep everyone on tabs for the rules.

Mind you I have taken it upon myself to update this rules list, if Bob would like to make any changes, he may do so.

Remember everyone, ignorance is no excuse.

(Original rules set down by BobTheFish, owner of Snowboard Kids World)

    ----------------------------------------

    Warning Levels

There are 5 warning settings on the board.

    20% Nothing
    40% Nothing
    60% 1 Week Suspension
    80% 1 Month Suspension
    100% Bannination

    - Spam (Post deleted, 20%-100% depending on amount) *Amended 1/21/11*
You have more leniency on spam than you do on most other boards. Just note that if more than a quarter of your posts are spam, you will be warned. This does not apply if posting in Random Insanity. (As an addition to this rule, first-time posters that start with spam will be immediately removed from the board. Do not post spam on your first post!)

    - Sexual Themes (20%-100%) *Amended 10/3/07*
Mature material should carry a warning within the topic, as well be listed in the topic description. The link itself for the item should also be labeled as "Mature, NSFW, etc." Any topics failing to do this will be immediately removed and the poster will receive a warning dependent on the severity of the infraction.

    - Racism (20%-100%) *Amended 1/21/11*
Producing anything on these boards that demonstrate racism may lead you into being banned. Any heavy racism will receive a hulk warning. Even if you are racist, please do not show it on these boards.

    - Profanity (20%-60%) *Amended 1/21/11*
Please censor all swearing apart from suffixes. You may use part of the word or light swearing (ass, whatever) but it is more serious if you use it in an offensive way. We're trying to maintain a PG to PG-13 environment, so try and keep the cursing to a minimum.

    - Advertising (20%-80%)
You may only advertise in the Advertising forum and even there, you must follow the Advertising rules. (It is located in Slash's General Chit-Chat.)

    - Attitudes (20%-80%) (Revised 11/9/07)
Treat others the way you would want to be treated. If you continually criticize others in a negative fashion you will eventually be banned for a short while.

    - No disrespect towards authority (20%-100%) *Amended 10/3/07*
Do not insult staff members. By insulting staff members, you are basically insulting the board. The staff members are here to make the board a place for everyone, and disrespecting that freedom they give to everyone only causes problems.

    - Rulebreaking Avatars (20%-80%)
You can have any avatar you wish, as long as it does not demonstrate sexual themes, racism, etc. You may download animated avatars. If you do not know how to download avatars please contact a staff member.

    - Rulebreaking Sigs (20%-80%)
You can have any signature you wish, as long as it does not demonstrate sexual themes, racism, etc. You may download animated signatures. DO NOT USE LARGE SIGS, it slows down the board and is very distracting.

    - Self-Bashing (20%-60%) *Stated earlier, Fully integrated 10/3/07, Amended 1/21/11*
Self-depreciating topics and defeatism are not permitted here. No one wants to hear about how your life sucks or that your boy/girl friend left you here, this forum is for positive thinking and fun. If you want to do that, go buy a journal, or open a LiveJournal/MySpace account and whine there. If you absolutely want help or support, please do it in a constructive manner and in a way that doesn't offend or depress yourself or other members.

    - Topic Necromancy (20%) *Integrated 10/3/07, Amended 8/21/08*
"Reviving" of ancient topics gets very annoying. Topics that are over 3 months old should not be posted in, and are usually scheduled for "pruning" from the forums after 4 months. Be mindful of topic dates. (Note: As a clear-up for this rule, update topics such as a continuing comic or the like can be updated whenever without fear of breaking this rule. Furthermore, topics in the Random Insanity Board are not target of this rule, but will be if repetitive posting becomes disruptive. Have common sense when reviving topics please.)
*This rule has been disabled for the time being due to low forum activity. If there becomes a need to reactivate this rule, it will be updated accordingly.*

    - Topic/Posting Duplication (20%-60%) *Integrated 10/3/07, Amended 1/21/11*
Patience is a virtue people, and there IS an edit button for topics that you post. In such I direct your attention that Post and Topic Duplication is prohibited and quite frankly annoying. No one likes to see 10 topics all asking about "What does your fan character look like?" We have the Search option for that, please use it.

    - Keeping RP with the RP (20%) *Integrated 11/22/07, Amended 2/20/08*
It is very difficult to discern if one is RPing in their topic/reply or if they are speaking true, therefore to fix any confusion with this, please label if you are RPing outside of the RP-Forum or not with IC (In Character) when you are RPing. This rule is exempt in the RP-Forums as all posts there (Unless posted with OOC, meaning Out of Character) are in character.
Failure to label RP topics outside of the RP forum will result in warnings, some people aren't able to imply that you were RPing, and may take offense to your attempt to act as a character.
*This rule has been removed as it is no longer a concern, plus it was deemed pointless looking back at it.*

I also think we should have a rule about flaming and harsh critism. We've had many topics closed for that, and it's always the same members who get invovled.

I apologise if this is the innapropiate place to say this.

        That's generalized in "attitudes".

What if the necromancy adds to the discussion? Does it still apply?

That all depends. If it seems to just be for the sake of bumping the topic, it's a violation. If it's actual input, that's a different story.

                *Updated 8/21/08*

Since there was a lot of confusion on the Random Insanity board regarding Topic Necromancy, I decided to amend the Topic Necromancy rule to give some leniency on the Random Insanity Board.

Just an update, I will be going through the forum rules soon to update them as well as re-write some of them so they make more sense. Expect an update sometime this week on the forum rules.

Update: I have amended the rules, please read through the rules carefully.

You may notice I have removed the "Keep RP with the RP" rule as it is not really a problem on the boards anymore. So long as everyone's keeping clear on what's in character and out of character I don't think this rule needs to be enforced, however I will re-enable it if it begins to cause confusion again.

Enjoy the newly revised rules! They're a little more lenient, and a bit clearer since they were last amended.
