Can anything be done for the SBK series?

Can anything be done for the SBK series?

It's sad to see a overall great series perish and become just a memory that people , come to not want to talk about anymore.

Is it possible to petition Altus to bring back its original developers that made the original games?
Or at least allow for like HD versions to made with maybe online added to them.

Are we to blame for the SBK DS not selling well?

They went with outsourcing to group with no background or competence making a game.

Game was like OG DS bargain bin title and I paid full price for it. I can't say that I regretted it , though game was very exploitable and I only played it a lot initially.

It was game that you couldn't convince people to buy , you couldn't just hand them like controller and they could play along with you.Besides that the game was like ice cream flavor that most didn't want a taste of.I don't blame them as older games are a different beast , had an unique art style and sense of humor. I never thought there would be day that SBK game had me all in snow on like every course.

It has been almost a decade since the last new entry in the series.(When November 22nd hits , it will have been 9 years.)

I am sad that the series became Atlus's red headed step child. They got rid of most things pertaining to it like spot in their old forums or any mention of it.I hate that it had to be something that was swept under the rug and most people think that Atlus doesn't have it in to make SBK anymore , when in truth they are only the holders of the IP from publishing the older titles. If it was in their will to do so then Racdym(Racjin now) would of made Snowboard kids 3 , but I don't blame Atlus for seeing SBK as potential seller and finding someone to make game at a cheaper price.

I just hope that the SBK legacy can continue to live on and continue to bring people happiness.(though it would nice to see title with resolution standard for games now and stable framerate.)

Oh man. I have so much I could say about this, but I tend to ramble like no-one's business, so I'll keep this short and concise. (Not 'sweet', because the harsh reality is anything but.)

The series is pretty much done.

Trust me, dude, Linda and I have sent our fair share of e-mails, signed a petition here and there, but SBK DS definitely drove the final nail into the proverbial coffin.

"Oh, well, that's certainly encouraging. Thanks. /sarcasm"

Hey, I'm an optimist, but I'm also a realist. So what I propose, instead, is on keeping as many resources about the game, such as the Wikia, TVTropes page, and this forum, open and current. There are lots of people who still remember this game and want to do a little reading up about it. Whether it's the guy that buys the game on eBay and is excited to play it again but forgot all the special trick button combinations, or the dude who may just now be learning that Plus exists and is going "what?! There's ANOTHER ONE?!" Not to toot our own horn, but I like to think we're the go-to place for anything SBK.

So, in conclusion, SBK's legacy CAN live on - through US. :sinobinnormal:

        Well said! Very well said!

I still remain optimistic about a new game possibly being made, even when SBK DS came out, it was quite a few years after SBK2. It's also not unheard of that games come back after a multi-year hiatus.

However, I do agree that the best way the game can live on is through the fans. Many fans still find out new elements of the original games, and remember the game fondly when it's brought up. I can't even begin to count how many times I've heard "Oh wow, I remember that game, what happened to it?" or "Oh, I wish they'd make a new one!" when I've mentioned it. Even people who don't know much about it, when I show them the game, they tend to get into it really quickly.

I can safely say it's nothing to do with the lack of interest, it's definitely there. At this point it comes to if the developer/publisher is able to identify that interest and develop for it. (And hopefully not outsource it.)

I hate to be pessimistic, but I don't think Snowboard Kids is ever coming back. :( It's been almost 10 years (!) since the DS game was released, it was ported to the iPad a few years ago but obviously that hasn't done anything for a comeback.

All we can do is remember the games as underrated classics, and that's good enough for me. I'm not even sure I would want another SBK game after the DS one, considering the current generation of the industry they would probably take the series even further away from what it was in the N64 days.

I actually had a dream recently that Atlus had announced a new SBK. It wasn't even something I'd been thinking about; I just remember being really disappointed when I woke up!

I'm inclined to agree though. I can't see them renewing the franchise again, especially with the success they seem to be having with RPGs, and even if they did, it'd be very difficult to re-capture what made the originals so good. A port/remake would be nice, but I don't suppose even that makes business sense to them.
