Anybody around here good with Video Capture?

According to several different FAQs and how-tos, I've configured my ePSXe emulator to run smoothly and nicely, in hopes of recording a perfect capture of the SBK+ story cinema (the longest one in the game, at the start of a new file) to put up on the forum's YouTube channel. However, the framerate and audio are just fine until I hit F9 (the video capture key in Fraps), and then the framerate lags and the video skips and gets slow and choppy. Is my computer's RAM just not sufficient enough to deal with it, or what's the issue?

I've been sitting at this desk figuring this out for 4 hours and I haven't had lunch!! :tommydsannoy:

I basically have the same problem except there is no way for me to fix the audio that happens during those cinemas. It gets even worse when I actually try to film the gameplay. I think your RAM could handle it just fine but I still can't figure out the solution to the problem. I'll do a little digging and hopefully post it here.

I got this from the Hyper Cam Help. I hope this helps and I'll try to look for more:

Right click empty Windows desktop and select Properties from the pop up menu.

In Display Properties window that appears, click Settings tab.

Check the Colors or Color Quality setting. Select the lowest setting that is still acceptable for your purposes, e.g. 256 colors, 8 bits per pixel or the Medium Quality (also called High Color), 16 bits per pixel. Higher color settings will also work, but not as fast.

Now click the Advanced button, and in another ... Properties window that appears, click the Troubleshoot tab.

Move the Hardware Acceleration slider all the way to None (to left), then click OK button in both windows.
Finally got a copy of SBK1 after first renting it ages ago.

Ah, you're using HyperCam. I'm using Fraps. I actually asked around for various opinions on what screen capture program to use, and Fraps got the majority vote. You suggest I should try HyperCam too?

A bit of a problem with Hypercam. When I was trying to do video capture using it, I was able to record a whole race on SBK+ no problem, but there was no sound, even with the option to have sound recorded turned on.

But it might be different for everyone else, so don't let that stop you.

I asked around about the sound issue, and it appears that an unregistered sound card may be the issue you're having. I'm not sure how one would GET it registered, but some emulators apparently have that issue. You could try playing SBK+ on a different PSX emulator, if possible (that sounds like the best option).

Does Hypercam have a decent FPS (frame per second) rate, at least? If it does I'll definitely look into it.

The video quality of the videos I made with Hypercam were great. I just didn't get any sound.

I've tried to find a way around this too, since all I've managed to do is point the camera at the TV (which isn't preferable for viewing). And unfortunately I've never gotten Fraps to work right. Turning the sound off helped a lot, but then I could only record 30 seconds worth. I just gave up on it. :bradthinking:
I met a man once with a dirty hardhat, a pickaxe and a bucket full of coal. He also had overalls and a plaid shirt, a scruffy beard and thick steel toe boots.

But those are just miner details.
