Here comes the battlecruiser SMS Yorck of 1920, just after trials and ready for commissioning. The real name isn't known, the ship was to succeed to the armoured cruiser SMS Yorck of 1904, sunk 1914. Ersatz Yorck class was the successor of Mackensen class.
How do you like it?

There are a lot of shading issues; I suggest you look at a superb pre-WW2 drawing such as one of AVALMA's Fuso. Also the conning tower slits are not done in the standard Shipbucket way (black line over dark gray; see Alaska as an example of this and others).

Much of the hard work is done, though (assuming your references were good), leaving mostly just the tedious work ahead. I look forward to seeing this progress; God knows there aren't enough underwater torpedo tubes in this world.

Hmmm...
Lot of little mistakes...
*) Hull is same colors as upper works <_< Shipbucket's basics...And taken that German ships were always rather ligth, the shading looks rather incorrect (compare to my latest Kriegsmarine drawings or MConrads classic Bundesmarine ships.)
*)Windows, outline them black, color them properly (there should be the correct shade in the equipment charts)
*) The dark grey isen't that "dark"...eq thus the funnel cap looks really odd
*)If you shade the funnel as to mark the rounding, why not shade then the mast and other round objects  its either no shading, or correct shading ;)
*) There are lot of unnesrical black overlapsing pixels

there as for starts the biggest ones I spotted.

Hey, one of my friends on Wikipedia worked on the article for this ship class. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ersatz_Yor ... tlecruiser

If you really need another line drawing, I should be able to get you in touch with him.

Thanks a lot. Usable drawings were really hard to find, but I think I got all existing drawings available on the net.

...and that helps a lot.

Please tell me exactly what has to be done now. It will help me and others to improve their drawings.

Following the first advices I did some corrections:
-superstructures color is lighter now
-windows are revised
-complete ship is lighter now
-missing shadings added
-funnel more detaild (still looks somehow bulky, but that's the ship)
-overlapsing pixels? please show me

The first thing I just found after uploading, the barbette of turret b contains a window. Don't know how it made it there.

I could imagine windows nearly everywhere but not at the heaviest armoured area.
Will be deleted with next version.

Thanks again, that was very kind.

Until this one is ok, I'll do a 40s AU-version.

Looking much much better. Usually the spaces directly belong long-base rangefinders were armored for the director crews, with the usual citadel viewing ports; do you know if these were present here? Also, are you certain about the location of the aft torpedo tubes? It's not obvious how they're not in exactly the path of the outboard shafts.

And here comes 40s Yorck

-torpedoes removed
-new superstructure
-new rangefinders for heavy guns and flak
-radar
-casemat guns removed, turrets installed (not to sure about that)
-8.8 aa-guns removed, 10,5 aa in twin turrets installed
-some light aa-guns
-new atlantic bow

Comments & advices welcome.

I think that 2 Flak directors on each side would be enough. Other than that it looks great!

I was thinking about that, but it's some kind of beauty factor
There are 3 15cm, 3 10cm, so I placed a third director in between.

But argh, I found some pixels left. Will remove them with the next revision.
