Would these two rays breed? And have viable offspring? Has anyone tried this?

I am not exactly sure. However based on the fact that they are in the same genus. Which usually suggest that hybridization may be likely. However given their native locals it has been at least 3-5 million years since these two species shared a common ancestor.

So can they produce live young - very likely. As for those young being fertile - that is the big question mark.
Bigger is Better - especially with shark tanks

I can't say it has happened before but I will be surprised if they can't breed with each other. If I had to guess were their ranges cross over hybridization happens.
