We got SIX eggs, although one looked a little small. Well, that's 200% better than last time, although we don't expect all will make it through the multiple hurdles. They call us this arvo with # mature, so that's the first one.

Feeling a bit dizzy/woozy, so in bed with the laptop napping when I feel like it.

Thanks for all the good wishes from around the globe; I am sure they helped!

Someone on the other board asked for my protocol, so I thought I may as well post it here in case it's useful. Probably more than you ever wanted to know, but it may be useful to some to also see what protocols have NOT worked well for me in the past ...

IVF#1 - 23 days of BCPs, then microdose flare protocol with microdoses of Buserelin (like Lupron) and 300 units of Gonal F. Result: two hopelessly small follies that never grew and E2 that went absolutely nowhere. Cycle cancelled. My RE was not optimistic but said if I wanted to, he'd give me "one last shot" at IVF on a different protocol ...

IVF#2 - 4mg estradiol valerate (E2) from CD21 to AF (this is to prevent dominant follies), then an antagonist protocol with 450 units of Gonal F and (when the lead follie got to 14mm) Cetrotide to prevent ovulation. Result: really slow start, only two small follies initially, but eventually I developed 4 follies. Unfortunately only two eggs retrieved, but both fertilised with ICSI and both transferred, BFN.

After IVF#2 I started DHEA 75mg/day, as per the recommendations from CHR: http://www.centerforhumanreprod.com/pre ... aries.html I have now been on DHEA 6 months. CHR says that DHEA really starts to kick in seriously after about 4 months. I also continued acupuncture (so have now been doing it almost a year).

IVF#3 (this time) - 2mg estradiol valerate (note, half the dose from last time) from CD21 to AF, then antagonist protocol starting CD2 with 450 units of Gonal F plus 75 units Luveris (pure LH).

This cycle I had about 6 antrals at the baseline scan, but while stims were in progress there were definitely about 12 altogether -- 8 that made it to 10mm or more, plus about 4 that stayed small.

We are doing ICSI and assisted hatching.

Hope that's helpful to someone. I must say I never thought I'd do this well based on IVF#1&2. My RE is really very pleased.

that is a great number to start with. I know that getting the updates each day on the other hurdles is nerve-wracking, but at least you have some wiggle room now, and that's wonderful. Hope you got some rest and we'll be awaiting your updates.
