Went in today for u/s and b/w after 4 days of stims (300 iu gonal-f per day). Had 2 follicles at 9 on right and one under 8, and one at 6 on the left (this is an IUI cycle for me). I thought that was o.k., but then e2 came back at 39! I was devastated! I thought for sure this cycle was going to be it, esp. since I had a lap in April to remove endo.

I have cried part of the day. The nurse says it is too early to give up. RE upped the meds to 375. This is my highest dosage ever (which I know is low for many of you). When I got p/g with DS in August of 2004, I was on a 225 dosage (Bravelle). My last 3 cycles I was also on 225 (BFNs, but I did respond).

What is going on? Could a switch from Bravelle to Gonal-F be bad? I thought it may be good to give my system a change since the last 3 Bravelle rounds were BFNs!

Any thoughts? Thanks for listening!

Perhaps you're a slow responder like me. I didn't even get an US or BW until day #6 of stims the last round. Did 11 days worth of stims total.

Are you "resting" in between rounds of drugs? Are you taking any BCPs prior to a round of stims? What is your FSH?

It's a bit like a beta; if your E2 doubles every 3 days you are making good progress. Also, if you've had suppression prior to the cycle you probably have antrals ready to lurk out of the woodwork. I would give it at least another couple of days to see what happens.

My last 3 iuis I did back to back. My last one was in Feb and I was on BCPs for a month and a week before I had a LAP in April. Since then I have not been on BCPs or anything else (except wheatgrass and prenatal vit). I am 36 and my last FSH was 14 (it was apparently 6 when I got p/g in 2004).

I generally respond a little better than I did this time and I am hoping it is not the change in meds (esp since I was the one who suggested it to my RE).

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

My RE did not even due any bloodwork before we started stims (did the u/s and since lining was so thin he knew nothing was going on) so I don't have a baseline to compare to. He did see follicles at that u/s -which I thought was promising.

Thanks for the encouragement. Hope I have better news on Friday.

So, what I meant was, compare it with your next E2 and see if it's doubling every couple of days. That's how you know you're making good progress. All fingers crossed for more follies on Friday!
