Tod,
nice to see you here! How is the scooter scene developed in the UK ? Do you have problems with the law, i mean is scooter tuning legal in the UK ? Do police control you ?
I hope you enjoy our forum!

best regards,
Martin

@ gangsta : It is very similar

@ proximo :Hi Martin, the law in the UK is a bit of an unknown with modifications, we are restricted by bhp and engine size depending on which licence we have, although the police are quite good aslong as its insured and ridden safely, I'm going for my full licence soon so its not somthing I'm going to be worrying about :)

The scooter scene int the UK has 2 diffrent scenes, we have the Old scooters like lambretta and Vespa from the 1960's 1970's. Then we have the modern scooters of the 1990's to now.

Both scenes preffer the 2 stroke engines as a choice of engine to tune for engines under 180cc, 4 stroke tuning has been largely ignored in the UK with only the larger 125cc and up, 4 stroke engines being of intrest for tuning

This is why I decided to build a tuned 80 4 stroke, most parts have to be bought from Europe as not many places in the UK offer parts for the smaller 4 stroke engines.

I am very much enjoying the forum, I'm using google translate to be able to read things easier, there are some very good projects on here

thanks Tod, very interesting information!
you can't see plenty of oldschool scooters here in Latvia but there are some enthusiasts who are tuning USSR period mopeds and motorcycles (49cc) , you can check them on www.retromoto.lv aswell.

about the police: it seems they dont pay much attention to you. well i mean not that much like in Germany. There are many videos on youtube were police officers are chasing scooterists. Sick.
the situation in Latvia is pretty the same - if youre not burning your tire in the front of a police officer , they dont bother you :)

oh and be careful with the translator.. it often fails and you might get it wrong , you know :haha:
